What's your favorite powder for .223

I am new to reloading rifle rounds, I have reloaded pistol cartridges in the past and want to step up and make some loads for my .223. I have everything I need except the powder. What is a good all around powder for .223? There's so many out there I'm not too sure what to get. I will be loading 60 grain v-max bullets if that matters much. Thanks for the help

I'm currently trying Varget and H4895. My gun seems to like the 4895 a little better. But I haven't really had a chance to dial them in yet.

Varget, 4895, and Winchester 748 work well for me in various guns.

As always the answer to your question will always depend on what shoots best in your specific rifle. There's very little difference in price with powders so there's no real price advantage in starting with one powder or the other. Pick one and go at it.

pyscodog or any body else IMR 8208 just wondering how that working for you compared to other powders. Hows velocity and accuracy.

varget. load it for 3 different guns. tikka t3, remington 700 sps tactical and a H&R single shot. all of them love it. i load the 55gr vmax and a 69gr matchking.

I just started reloading with the 8208 xbr. Most of the reloaders up at the range in bountiful seem to really like it. Just some groups that it is producing as of now. It says that it is impervious to temp. Ok maybe not IMPERVIOUS but I do like the word.

Varget for three guns here too. AR-15 varminter, Savage 112 and a CZ 527. All one-holers with 50 grain Ballistic Tips. Been my favorite for years and don't see that changing any time soon.

With the 60 v-max Varget gives me the best velocity and accuracy followed by Benchmark and then IMR 8208. Varget will be tough to beat in the 60 v-max, but of course it is a PITA to load.

Any 55 gr. bullet and 24 gr. of benchmark. If your not sure do a search for benchmark. I think you'll see alot of 24 - 25 gr. of benchmark and a 55 grain bullet.

Benchmark all the way for me out of my AR's. It works the best in all the .223 AR's. I use different powders for the .204 but for .223 Benchmark.
