When Does the Season Start????????

When oh when does the coyote season start for everybody?

I ask this fully realizing that some are currently hunting (against the request of many).

Here in Oklahoma the season is year round with no limit. However, it is so stinking hot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gifthat it is torture to go calling right now.

Probably will get started about October.

I hope it cools off that much by October!!!

It was still pretty warm last October, as far as that goes we we're hunting in short sleaves in November last year. I figure as soon as it starts getting back down in the 50's at night is a good time to start.

It has to stop to start! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Acutally, My season revolves around when my wife lets me out of the house, so i jump on the opportunity whenever I can. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

is the sole purpose of not hunting coyotes now, to allow the pups to mature, or fur value?

Bag of Big freaking Worms there!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Some are for Fur! Some are for letting pups mature!
On a personal note: Some are too fat and soft to sit in a pool of sweat and try to call up coyotes in the summer heat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Cool Fall mornings have a lot to offer a part-timer! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Year round season for me, I usually start hunting in July. You're more than welcome to find a hide around here to keep if you'd like, but you'll be searching for a while. Other than that I hunt coyotes to kill coyotes, nothing less, nothing more. Late July around here seems to be the time that pups leave the den and start roaming on there own, which makes for more targets.

Minnesota coyote season is continuous, no limit. I hunt according to the law.

Minnesota Regs state:

UNPROTECTED ANIMALS
Residents are not required to have a license to take unprotected species.
Unprotected Mammals
Weasels, coyotes, gophers, porcupines, striped skunks, and all other mammals for which there are no closed seasons or other protection are unprotected animals. They may be taken in any manner, except with the aid of artificial lights or by using a motor vehicle to drive, chase, run over, or kill the animal. Poisons may not be used except in accordance with all label regulations of the state Dept. of Agriculture and federal Environmental Protection Agency.

I try to wait till the fur is good- mid Oct- but if those dang pups from the litter born behind the house don't quit teasing the hounds at night /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif I may just have start earlier this year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

They are legal to shoot year-round in CO. The mountain coyotes have a nicer, thicker winter coat than the plains coyote. But the plains coyotes are easier to find and get access to. I don't think about shooting them until after Oct. Pdogs are year-round too. But I only shoot them from late Spring to mid-summer. Gives the breeders a chance to make some new targets for next Spring. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

No season here. But I won't start until around Nov. 1.
I let the pups grow, the fur get on towards a "winter" coat, & let the heat disappear...cuz I'm one of those who is too fat/lazy to sit in a pool of sweat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Just moved to Idaho from California,There is no season for coyotes in either state .I usually wait until September to start hunting the pesky critters as the young ones are then old enough to survive on their own.THATS MY STORY AND I'M STICKIN TO IT! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

When the big boys knees heal it's time to go kill....
