Which 223 bullet for knockdown??

My cz will shoot winchester 45 gr JHP, and winchester 50 gr ballistic tip very well. Which would have more knockdown, or do the most damage, not worried about fur.

The Hornady 55 gr. V-MAX has very good knock down power and shoots well. But I like the 40 gr. V-MAX myself. It's flat shooting fast and makes squirrels and small things explode. It easily takes down coyotes.

55 grain Sierra Spitzer Boatail Gameking. I've seen it go through a shoulder joint. Cheaper than the Noslers also. Usually more accurate. Man, does that sound too good to be true or what? Plastic tipped bullets are for prairie rats, unless your move up to the .243.

Larry Timmons that 55gr. Game King ballistic coefficient is only .250. The Hornady 55gr. V-MAX ballistic coefficient is .255. And it's a plastic tip. Where do you get plastic tipped bullets are only for prairie rats until you get to .243? I guess everybody that uses a .17 rem isn't doing it right?

Larry is spot on.The 55 grain SBT gameking is an excellent bullet for coyotes.IMO It is the best .22 caliber bullet made for killing coyotes.Bullet construction is excellent for CONTROLLED EXPANSION,and it is very effective going through bone to get to the vitals, unlike the Vmax.FWIW Good Hunting Chad

Hey Bronco, glad you're back home. Hate that I won't make the Globe hunt. Just don't knock anymore u-joints out of that old Bronco, since I won't be there. Shooter John, I think you're looking at the BC for the hollowpoint bullet. I think the Nosler is the toughest of the bunch, but we've had good enough luck with Sierra to not even have to try those high dollar suckers. That hollowpoint gameking does a good job out of my AR. I can't see any reason to use anything lighter than 55 grains for coyotes. It works ok on foxes, usually just passes through but they have a tendency to run aways. Utah, it's finally glad to hear from someone else who isn't caught up in all this plastic tip bullet craze. I saw a guy say that they allowed then to shoot smaller calibers than they use too. .223's instead of 22-250s and .243s, that's a load of you know what, just a plug for his sponser I think.

This is the only way I can illustrat what I'm talkin about. These were all shot with a .223, all dead on the spot and notice the lack of blood or gore.
