Which bird distress call?

I've been thinking of getting a bird distress call to give me another calling option while on stands. I've tried to use my open reed rabbit distess calls but can't seem to get it to sound right. The closed reed PC-2 works best for me but it sounds a little too raspy.
Can anyone recommend a high pitched closed reed bird call?

Thanks. I'll check them out.
Open reed calls are kinda tough for me. I can't get my tongue to work right. I can flutter my tongue but if I try to bite down and flutter at the same time my tongue locks up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The Haydel's bite call works well... and so does the AP-6. I make a closed reed and an open reed bird distress call. Both are easy to blow... pm me if you want any details.

I took the rubber band out of one of those Burnham Brothers "split sticks" calls, stuck a thin strip of plastic in there for a reed and recorded this sound with it. http://www.cronkpredatorcalls.com/sounds/coonSpecial.mp3

Yes! That's the sound I'm looking for. Good job!
Now, if I can just find a call I can make sound like that.
You veterans make it sound so easy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

I may not be popular with this statement, but here is my thoughts on bird distress. Though a cool sound to be able to make, I never use it on stand. One can pass out on a 15-20 minute stand attempting bird distress. If I predator isn't coming to a rabbit distress sound, I believe the chances of it running after a bird distress is very low. Low enough, that I don't want to get light headed and fall over trying to duplicate a bird. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just my thoughts.

Your blowing on the wrong end of the call TT!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I know what you are saying... some of the open reed calls I have "had" in the past were the same way... to much air! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif If you use a good coaxer reed and a call body that allows the smallest amout of air to make a good sound... you have a great call! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have two calls with the (LVDR 025) & (LVDR 005)reeds in them. I use both of these for "raspy" bird distress sounds.I have called coyotes, fox, and bobcats with these and they are easy to blow.Raspy bird distress works better for me than any other "bird distress" that i have tried.
