Which Carver calls should I get?

So I've heard great things about carver calls from Carverpredatorcalls.com

I would like some advice/opinions on which call/s that everybody else recommends. Some things to consider are

1)I live in New York State and hunt mostly woodlots, sometimes open fields. I usually hunt and call at night(if that matters)
2)I am looking for a realistic sounding howler. I am sick of using store bought howlers that sound like crap
3)I would like a nice sounding distress call(maybe a cottontail) or something else if you recommend it

any comments would be appreciated, thanks for the help!

The biggest problem with Carver Calls is there is no best one. It's like 31 flavors of ice cream. They are all good. How do you pick your favorite grand child, kid, horse, dog or Carver Call?

Carver's "Strictly Business" set of 5 calls. just received a set plus one, great sounding calls as well as good looking, been playing with the red fox, crows and even a redtail hawk came in for a peek[no coyote here, have to travel for them]good solid calls, thanks mr. carver!!!!

I see that Kerry says that he sent you a private message.
IMHO, that's the BEST solution...talk to the man himself, and between the two of you, Kerry will get you fixed up just the way you want/need.
Yep, it's always good to know what other people's opinions are on a subject.
No doubt about it.
But, too many opinions just might confuse the issue.

As for me, I agree with what Redfrog said.
Regardless of call type or materials used, Kerry doesn't make a call that isn't a good one; easy to use/(or learn if necessary); or doesn't produce if the hunter does his part of the equation.

They are all great, but I can say that the rabid rabbit has put down more fur for me than every other call I own COMBINED, not a word of exaggeration. There is just something magic about that call. Everyone else I've put onto it has had the same experience.

Would like to add some hand calls to my gear. Are the prices on the Strictly Business sets current? And do they come with instructions how to use them, that I know I will need. thanks

Tom

Hi Tom, yes the prices are up to date. As far as instructions, once you get the calls and get familiar with them, I prefer you call me and we can walk though the sounds you can make with each call.

I gotta say you really can't go wrong with a Carver call. I have been using exclusivley for about 8 years now, and the coyotes love them, I haven't had any complaints. And Kerry is about the best guy there is, I am glad to call him my friend.

Can't go wrong with any of his calls. I think the best bang for your buck is the strictly business plus one set. I have that set and like it pretty well. I also like the swift call a lot. Can't go wrong though with any of them and Kerry is very helpful if you contact him.

I've got several of Kerrys' calls and everyone has brought fur to my stands. You won't go wrong with any of his calls or call types.

As far as the Man himself, He is the real deal. He has been a great resource for me and always willing to help if can....

My favorites are the Rabid Rabbit and the 220 Swift call. I put all my off the shelf calls in a box in the closet and will prolly never pull them out again. I called Kerry to see what he recommended and he talked me through the 4 call purchase. Even though he could have made more money off the big dog howler, he talked me into the pup/female howler because for what I wanted to do it was a better compact option. He turned the calls and had all 4 of them and the DVD to me in 4 days and there was also something extra in the box...musta dropped it or something hah! I also recommend snagging the 21 Days in Coyote Heaven DVD too if you have the extra money. Very good video and he offers helpful tips on blowing the calls. It's also nice to see the man use his own calls along with other callmaker's calls while hunting. Great calls and great guy!

Kerry Carver is a great guy, and makes some great calls. I don't think you can go wrong with any of his calls. Once you get them and start using them, you find that you are using them exclusively. I particularly like the Ruthless Rabbit open reed.
