Which coyote vocalizations???

I've only been at this for a couple years now and it has really taken hold of me. I've always used prey distress sounds and pup distress. I would like to get more into using vocalizations but have no idea where to start or which ones and sequences to use, as in how long to wait in between. I have a foxpro fusion and I see where people have said to use an invitation howl but I'm lost as to which one they consider it to be. If anyone would be willing to help me out and give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

The only coyote howling call I have had any luck with is the female mating call on my Wildlife Tech Mighty Atom. I am in the east, Maryland and Virginia, so it may be different for you out in Missouri. I have only had luck with this sound in January and early February and it always took like at least 30 minutes to get a response. I hunt at night and each time it worked I located with a mouth howler just before dark, then waited about 30 minutes or so after dark to try. They come in silent and I use night vision so they just walked right in. One time I think he must have smelled us because he gave one warning bark, but it was too late.
Here at this location I have never had any response with any coyote howls or other sounds during the day and with any coyote sounds at any other time of the year night or day....they just don't like to be called around here I guess. Either that or I am no darn good at it!!! That said, right now is as good a time as any to try the female mating call. I can do it on my mouth howler, but the MA-15 sounds a lot better. Best of luck.

Young female followed by Young male. Do each one a couple of times with one minute between them Female 2 times then male 2 times Couple minutes between female and male . Then try female invite. This will make the coyotes in the area think that a new young couple in the area. They should come to kick some butt!!! MAYBE.......... I have also used rabbit after the female invite and had it work a couple of times.... Rudy

I have found that a female invitation, followed by a few minutes of silence usually elicits either an echo of my call or a challenge during pair/breeding season. I will then echo that back at them, and usually roll into a prey distress call to give them something to focus on.

During late mating/denning season I can get some good responses with challenges, and some pup distress.

A guy could start with howls of your choice, then move into some vocals that would fall into the less then aggressive sounds such as whimpers, estrus chirps, and then follow up with a good fight sound and maybe follow that up with a pup distress.

Lots of good vocals to choose from. It ain't just howls that work good these days.

Match the hatch...
I start with a Female Yodel and see what happens.
If they howl back I use what they say.
Give the coyotes some time between howls but fire back as soon as they do.
A female challenge is good if no answer then a Lota pup in distress.
In February don't be afraid to be very aggressive, mating season
