you don't need a reader writer for the predation to put sounds on the unit. All you need is a usb cord to hook to the computer and the computer will recognize the predation. you download directly to the predation. I got my usb cord with my reader/writer that I purchased at best buy for $20 so I could load sounds onto a mmc card.It takes maybe 10 minutes to switch all the sounds that the predation will hold which is about 10. I hope this will help to clarify some things.
