Which scope mounting system is best?

I am trying to decide which rings and bases to use on my new prairie dog gun. It is a remington 700 VSSF .22-250 and I am mounting a VXII 6-18 Leupold. I was thinking leupold dual dovetail, Talley, or S&K rings and bases. Does anyone have any suggestions on which of these is easiest to mount and align, strongest, most accurate, or is there another system I should consider./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif Thanks for your feedback.

I am a big fan of the Burris Signature rings on a Weaver base. They are easy on the scope, well made, solid, and you can corerct for any screw hole misalignment on the rifle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

A second vote for the Burris signature rings. I just mounted a scope on my new rig with the dual dovetail model. Thes seem real bomb proof to me. I don't think you could marr your scope tube with this system.

Keep in mind that no matter what system you use, and no matter how many rings (double or triple) it has, or how "heavy" it looks, this is all for sales - the whole system is held on by 4 #6-40 screws.

Also... if your scope gets whacked in the bush, do you want the mount to hold and the scope to break, or the mount to break before the scope breaks??

Warne or Leupold QRW slotted bases and Burris Signature Zee rings will be great and won't leave ring marks or scratches on your scope.

All I can say is don't get ALUMINUM they suck. Get STEAL all the way!!!!!! One more thing LOCK TIGHT!!!!!LOCK TIGHT!!!!!

I just put a set of Warne bases & rings on a 300WSM. They are steel 'Weaver' type bases. I was very pleased with the tight fit and quality. I have different typs of mounting systems but now look to a Weaver type 1st. With one system it can be easier to switch scopes if need be, though ring height may be a factor. I also use the 'removeable' loc-tite on the base screws.
