Thaddeus, maybe when you're mouth-calling and they look right at you, it's when you smile and wave at them that gives you away. ;-)

 

Sounds like you are talking about the same basic technique I try to use. One person can only cover so much angle with eyes and gun, so it seems the odds favor watching crosswind to downwind in your arc of vision. With your gun pointed from a natural sitting position straight downwind, you can cover some degrees to either side of that direction to catch the ones circling from crosswind to downwind and try to nail them before they hit your scent. Your 'backdoor' will be upwind and slightly to one side, and you just have to keep your fingers crossed that one coming in from there will try to cross to downwind behind you, and come by in front of your muzzle.

 

That's how I would do it, not that proven myself to be an expert at this. :-( heheheheh
