White Spacers

I am in process of reviving a 591M stock. The rifle functions and shoots amazingly well. But, with all of this trouble re-finishing the stock has got me thinking, what could one use to make his own spacers? I will be putting them between the grip cap and the butt plate, any ideas? thanks in advance!!

I remember reading somewhere a while back of someone using bleach bottels to make the white spacers. Might be worth a shot.

That copolymer look cool. But I don't think I would ever use enough to make the minimum order. LOL.

I may try bleach bottle. Hmmm

Antler?? I'm just not that handy! Good idea though.

Bleach bottle works well! BTDT!!

Cut the bottle open, lay it out flat, put your buttplate down and mark it out, cut it out with a good pair of sharp scissors. If it doesn't fit perfectly, run a couple small bolts with big washers through it and trim it to fit with a utility knife.

Gives you a nice clean white line, doesn't cost anything, and takes less than 5 minutes to make. Have one that's been on a shotgun at the house for 15+ years, still looks good. And, if it falls apart, it isn't tough to duplicate!

Yes sir!! Be careful with the utility knife if you have to trim it. Keep the blade pulled up as short as possible, and trim from the backside, so as not to cut into the buttplate.

As best I recall I used an ultra-fine point rollerball ink pen to mark it pahntr, it gets you tighter to the buttplate so there isn't a lot to trim afterwards.

It really is as easy as it sounds. And, it does give you a nice clean white line, for 3 - 4 minutes effort.

check out kydex sheets that the knifemakers use.Ton of different thicknesses and yu can buy it in small quantities too. A couple places I can think of would be Jantz and Premium Knife Supply. Or just do a google search for kydex. Good luck.

Antler too as said before, both are very easy mediums to work with, they sand down nice. To me there is nothing like a nice piece of stag or horn.

Oh Kay!! There is Kydex all over e-bay for decent prices. How well do you all think a .093" or .055" thickness look? Im leaning towards the .055 thickness. Maybe some one has a Remington with the spacers they could throw a caliper on. Maybe get a close estimate?? Thanks for all the help!
