Who hunts with a Ghillie Suit?

i dont have one yet but before next oct. i hope to have one, i may try to make one but not sure yet! i think it would help if you did not have the best of cover! i want to make one for the gun too.

I think that sometimes its overkill. It all depends on what you want to wear. It is truly fun to not be seen and with a guille its just about gaurenteed you wont be! Have fun and hunt how you want, thats what its all about. It is very fun to hunt with a guille.

I bought my suit and rifle cover from Ghilliesuits.com fairly reasonable and good quality.

They do work well. My daugher is terrified of it, and my 2 German Shorhairs freak out when I put it on /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have one that I take out sometimes but mine is realy designed for more of a military use than for hunting. If I were to make one for hunting I would cover the chest with jute as the one I have now has a skid plate sewn on the chest and front legs and the jute on the back mainly.

LOL I'll bet they do! I wonder what is going thru their minds when they see it?

haha i have the jacket and pants set from ghilliesuits.com and i love it...the rifle wrap is next on my wish list. ive been close enough to a deer to reach out and touch it!

Here is mine, the third photo is me sitting behind my tripod (ghilli coverd also) Now this is just pics of the suit, if I were trying to hide in real life I would have natural vegitation added in it also.

Ever heard a bird dog growl like an attack dog? That is what they do. My female goes nuts, growling, barking back on her haunches ready to lung.

I have a light predator jacket from Rancho Safari. Love it. It is light and airy. When the temps start to rise, it makes it's own shade but lets the brease through to cool you off. Actually cooler then sitting inthe sun in camo clothes. Elkeholic took a couple pics of me in it when I was screwing around. I'll see if I can get em and post em up.

I recently purchased and have been using the Leafy Breakup stuff for Cabela's. It can be a full suit. I just bought the head cover and shirt. I am afraid that a Ghillie in West Texas would be WAY HOT and with our throns on EVERYTHING hard to move in. The Cablea's breaks up you outline well and is FAIRLY cool to wear.

Alot of people sew a mesh back onto their suits to help keep them cool, as for hanging up on thorns, it happens but I think it is more of an issue with people who use burlap strips or cloth strips for their suits instead of the jute twine. I think the thorns helps shred out the suit a bit too, which is good for it.

i have one that i bought at an army/navy surplus store for $100. it works great. i get lots of sticks and brush stuck in it but that just adds to the effect. mine has pants, a jacket and a hat. i usually forego the hat for my scentlock hat and facemask though. i use it for bowhunting deer. anything you guys know of that works good to get the mildew stink off of them that can accumulate after a while?
DM1975, that is one good lookin' suit you have there!

I got a Rancho Safari 3/4 parka, I wear it when I know I'll be heading into an area wth little cover. I like to be invisable when I need to.
