Who makes the best .243 AR platform.

I own a dpms ar lite hunter in 243 and love it. It's not the fanciest of guns but it shoots great (1/2 moa at 200 yds) and l haven't had one problem with it yet.

Dtech posted a couple weeks ago that I believe he does not build the large platforms anymore. I think it is remington and dpms and don't hold me to it but I think I saw somewhere that rra is going to be offering them also. Mike may be correcting me but I swear I saw it. I have a remington r25 and with my reloads it shoots very small groups out past 300yds.

My only experiences are with Armalite and DPMS. I'd take the Armalite hands down without question.
However, You would probably get more bang for your buck by having Scott at Specialized Dynamics just build you one to your specs.

I agree with cbass, production rifles are fine for a budget but to truly be happy look at a custom build. I built a custom 243 based on the DPMS platform.

AHAHAHAHA. That's more funny than any Super Bowl commercial I saw.

That's not sayin a whole lot. I can't say that I so much as chuckled at a commercial yesterday. Pretty disappointed in the whole thing.

Edited to not threadjack.

To the OP- ask around and shoot me a PM if you think about going "custom". If you wanna buy one off the shelf, you'll be pleased with DPMS. I've had 3 and they've all shot sub MOA out to 200 (never shot much beyond that).

If you want an off the shelf gun and dont want to wait, DPMS is a good choice. Some folks think that a higher price is custom, but everyone will have an opinion. Gotta ask what you want to do with it and if you want something off the shelf and then change out parts that you like, so be it, if you want something built to your specifications with a lifetime warranty and an accuracy guarantee, then email SD.

As stated above and in another thread Mike is no longer handling the larger frame AR. If he wants a 243wssm I agree Mike is the man.

Well I guess I missed that. I would say DPMS then. I loved my 204 DPMS. Very accurate.
