Who uses a tripod?

I have used various camera tripods depending upon terrain. I simply epoxied the proper threaded nut to the bottom of the Fury, and it works on them all. Garage sale tripods can be had for a low price.

I use a small light weight Targus Tripod that fits inside my Avery Duck's Unlimited carry bag along with my Shockwave Caller the TX1000 Remote and three sets of 8 Duracell Precharged AA batteries, two Lithium Ion 11.1 Volt battery and the Lithium Ion Battery Charger that plugs into the AC outlet. All this fits into this carry bag. The bag is padded and is suppose to float on water too.

The tripod's legs collapse and extend to about 3 ft so the caller can be put on the tripod and stands around 3 ft off the ground or so. The tripod's legs are aluminum tubing in sections of different diameters on each section of the leg. It's very light weight and holds my FoxPro Shockwave Caller on the top.

My only fear is that a coyote gets to close to caller and knocks it over as the tripod is not very steady as it's so light weight and fragile. But it fits inside the bag with the caller.

I got it at Walmart in the Photo Section. Folded up The Targus Tripod is 12" long. It's a Targus TG-4277 Tripod. I also have a really nice expensive tripod for my digital canon camera setup that is made out of carbon fibers which are light weight and really strong. But that tripod won't fit in my Avery Ducks Unlimited bag. It's harder to carry out to the field and setup. It's a lot more stable too as it has a hook on the bottom of the central post that I can hang a weight onto the pull the tripod down and steady it for taking pictures.

I used something similar to what you show in your pictures. But the stands I used were for holding air sample tubing and cartridges used to sample the air for asbestos fibers floating around in the air after an asbestos abatement project. I did the clearance sampling after the asbestos insulation was removed. We used 5 stands similar to yours. They were not cheap either. The company that I worked for bought them before I started working for them and I never did figure out where they got them. They had a clip on the top of the pole that attached to the 1/4" ID plastic tubing that we used to connect the sample cartridges to a high volume air sampling pump.

The tripod I use is a home-made one. I used three carbon fiber target arrows with 100 gr. points and use three castration bands for the hinge. I made a round platform out of a wooden plaque I bought at Wal-Mart that sits near the top of the tripod to balance my e-caller on. This tripod also serves to hold my camera when I want to take "Hero Photos."

Here's the wooded platform with slots carved out on the sided for the arrow shafts to fit into. The short piece of rubber hose slips over the three target tips to keep the tips from stabbing me when I'm carrying the tripod.

Here's a look at the platform sitting on the arrows.

If I don't have my shooting sticks along and do have the tripod with, it will double as my shooting sticks too.
