Whose .17 caliber bullet are you using?

Here's the question,
My new CZ 527 varmint in .17 Remington is on the way from Buds Gun shop. I've searched the archives on the best bullet weights for this caliber and I've seen the recommendations. My question is are the Nagels and the Kindlers still available or are they a thing of the past with companies bailing out of the .17 market? I have found some of the 25gr and 30gr Bergers so I'll consider these as well. I have 100 rounds of the HSM ammo with the 25gr Bergers coming to get me started. I am using it predominantly for Coyotes. Thoughts and advice please....

From what I've learned Nagel can't get the J4 jackets he used to get from Berger so he's out, and I've heard that may also happen to Kindler. I used to shoot 25gr Berger match bullets and Nagel's 25gr T-000s, also primarily shooting coyotes. When what I have left runs out I think I'm going to have to try the 25gr Hornady Hp and see how they work out. So far the 25gr bullets I've used have preformed very well for me as far as quick kills and next to zero fur damage.I'm new to this caliber but have been very impressed so far. Good luck!

My CZ 527 in .17 Rem shoots almost all the 25 and 30 grain bullets very well. Currently my favorite is the Nagel 30 grain T-000 of which I only have about 300 left. Than I'll switch to the Berger 30 grain Match Target's which I have about 600 left. Hopefully by the time I'm through with those someone will have this .17 caliber bullet mess figured out! If I was you I'd get serious about trying to get as many of Todd Kindler's 25 and 30 grain Gold's as I could get my hands on. They're one of the best .17 cal. bullets ever made for coyotes. Hopefully Todd will still be able to get the J4 jackets he uses on these.

To follow up on this I just ordered some of the Berger 30gr bullets from Natchez Shooters Supply. If interested order some, they only have 5 boxes of them left. 1000 bullets.

Make sure they are the match Target from berger or you wont be happy. Only ones I see they have for sale are the 30gr varmits and they will explode on impact with a coyote sized critter

My CZ shot the 25 and 27gr golds very well, better in fact than the 25gr target bergers. But the bergers performed a lot better for me on fur. 24.4grs varget w/cci BR4 primers set 10 off the lands. Will get you 3990fps. Sight in 2" high at 100 and go shoot yoties

Thanks to all for the info. I ordered the Bergers just to get some, as they are almost sold out. I also got 100 of the Hornandy 25gr HP's. Who knows, I can use them for something I suppose.

I recently sold my 17 Remington to fund another project but found the 28gr Calhoon to be my go to bullet for coyote, fox, bobcat and raccoon.
Very rare to have an exit and dropped the critter on the spot. I still have a few hundred rounds in storage here.

For fox I found the 20gr MEF bergers to be the ticket. The 30 grainers were a bit too much as they punched completely through but the 20's go in and never come out.
