WildEarth- (It's about the money)

While we struggle to protect our firearms and hunting here in the U.S., other groups are organized to infringe on us.

The difference?

$$MONEY$$

While we have support from the vast majority of our members here at Predator Masters, it was very interesting when I looked at the website of wildearth. (I'll not link that site here)

Short comparison:

Wildearth-

18 Staff members. (That's a LOT of saleries to pay)

FIVE office locations in different cities across the U.S.
(I wonder how many full or part-time workers they also employ, and what their rent is on their offices?)

Solicitation of monitary donations....

W.E. has several different ways you can donate to their organization. From sending a check or other one time donation, to donating your IRA & it's proceeds to them.

Legal Team- W.E. has a legal team that they pay to injure our rights and priveldges. They pay their legal team from proceeds of donations listed above.

Ok, OUR side

The NRA supports our hunting and gun ownership.
(Kudos to the NRA! If not for them and their persitant fight, we would have lost the battle years ago!)

Other specialized groups.

NWTF- They add to the kitty quite a bit as things pertain to Turkey Hunting. They also increase habitat and game birds.

Ducks Unlimited- They do battle as the good guys pertaining to waterfowling. Added habitat and stocking conservation programs.

RMEF- Again they are limited in what they do to the confines of their specialized organization dedicated to elk.
(They have been seen blurring the lines of conservationalism & tree-hugging a few times)

Predator Masters- PM has a stated goal of protecting your rights as hunters and owners of firearms since the beginning.
We have, as I said at th first, the support of thousands of perdator hunters across the U.S. in our forums.
We continue our fight with the inception of our Freedom Forum.

Unlike all the rest of the organizations I listed above, we don't have the resources that the others do.
We can't really increase predator populations or habitat like D.U., NWTF, and the others do. It goes against common sense and our goals to increase the number of predators....we are dedicated to the sport of hunting them and the benefit that the stock growers and the wildlife will enjoy by our continued involvement in hunting predators and the range saving of varmint hunting such as prarie dogs.

What CAN we further do to help our sport?

Organize!- We need to get the word out there to all our fellow hunters to JOIN PM in our fight for our hunting heritage and gun ownership rights.

EDUCATE!- One of the main goals of Predator Masters is to educate our young people about predators and how they live, and why a balance in controling them is so important to all of us. Not only our young people, but the PUBLIC in general needs to be educated.
Those groups that would see our loss of everything we stand for as a victory are getting support, both moral & money from those members of the public that they sway to their side by telling lies and spreading mis-information. They also have the vast majority of the liberal media to help further their cause.

In the coming times, especially with our country being subject to majority rule of Liberals, anti-gun, anti-hunting administration of the House, Senate, and the Predsident's Office, our battle with these well funded organiztions must not falter. Not for one minute!

Perhaps it's past time for us to start making the fight a little more serious from our standpoint. Perhaps it's time that we get more passionate about helping to preserve our hunting and gun rights.
We know the opposition. Isn't it time we had a little more power in OUR corner to fight with?

How many of you feel the same way?

Thanks for reading my long-winded observations.
Please note that these are my opinions only, as a member of PM. nothing more.

Barry, and everyone else, I totally agree that we need to get more active and passionate about the efforts to protect what we have now, while we still have it..

While it would change the whole foundation and outlook of the forum...we would almost have to adopt a "Political Action Committee" function where Elected representatives could lobby on behalf of the sport...and I'm not sure that is either feasible or desirable...

One, two, or three people talking to politicians, when they legitimately represent a large number of people, are listened to much more intently that one person representing themselves..Then you fall under the "Lobbiest" regulations..

Short of that, it's a massive letter writing campaign to the various state and federal politicians and getting follow through is spotty, at best..

Yes we do need to do something.

I would have to agree with OT that it is not feasible for us to do it alone under the PM name. Other than some ranchers, farmers, and others like ourselfs, it would be not just an uphill battle, but impossible to convince very many folks in this country what we do can be justified.

Way to many believe in the "let nature take it's course" theory and will never understand that nature does sometimes need a little help. Us harvesting wildlife, predators, and varmints is very beneficial but there is just to many people that can not see beyond the grocery store as to where their hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, and T-bone steaks come from. Now throw in coyotes, bobcats, coons, armadillos, etc. that are not processed for the table and the fight gets tougher.

Our rights and freedoms are under attack, and we are headed towards socialism at an alarming rate. I think we should all join an organization that is dedicated to preserving our constitutional rights and let our hunting and shooting sports fall under that umbrella. The NRA is great but pretty much limited to our second amendment rights.

At this time I can not recommend a particular organization or group, but I think we should all be looking for one. I had mentioned Freedom 21 earlier in these forums but have not thoroughly checked them out to date. Maybe some group will come out of the tea parties that we can join, don’t know, but I agree we (PM members) need to join hands and support an organization that will support us.

Wow Barry, forgive me for speaking to the choir on Saturday.

Groups like the Wild Earth Guardians cannot afford to win major battles. If they do, the funding sources dry up. They have to participate in minor skirmishes showing what a great job they are doing and that just a few more donations will push them over the top.

Groups like this, are dishonest with their contributors.

That's what they do, Bill.

It's all about how many they can dupe that are sitting on the fence. That's why they have such a wide variety of "Pet Projects"....One of them might appeal to someone's stupidity. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

We need to take a fence stay to these con artist enviro groups. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

These guys are worse than those commercials showing starving children on TV. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

BTW, I'm very glad we see eye to eye about what needs to be done. I know I'm behind the push 100%... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Like many have said before me...if your not a member of the NRA already, you should join today.

On the other hand...the RMEF. Was a member for several years but didn't re-subscribe this last year and I am still formulating a professional but harsh letter to send them. I got tired of reading about how logging, mining, roads, people, building houses, etc. were evil. The magazine and organization used to be reputable...but anymore it seems to be spewing anti-industry, liberal drivel typical of the town its headquartered at...Missoula.
