Wildfire 2 questions

I think I am going to have to pony up and get the Wildfire 2. I may look at the next up model too. But I hunt mostly in/near the woods so a higher/longer range is probably not needed. I am curious how long does the TX9 remote work? And if I wanted to upload more sounds and need the USB cable, will any USB work with the Wildfire? Which charger kid do I need to order for the Wildfire? (I do not use any charger and presume I will need to use chargeable batteries so what brand of charger batteries?) I've read if you buy a Foxpro from a non-authorized dealer there is no warranty covered which is why I am looking at allpredator.com

Here is the reason for ordering this Foxpro. I cannot hear well and my son cannot master hand calls...at least not now as he needs more practice and I then need him to teach me lol. So quickest way is to get a Foxpro and get out and try it. I think with practice can master it but need a teacher to teach us.

All day and no replies? I'm not the expert some are but I have had the call you're looking at. I've had the call out a lazered 120 yds, in sight, and it worked fine. AFA the USB cable it is the same one to hook a computer up to a printer. They recommended alkalines for the Wildfire so that's what I used and always took a spare set.

Now that you know all that I would recommend spending an extra $100 for the refurbished Fury II that Cabelas is selling. I upgraded my Wildfire to a used Fury and it's twice the call. More volume, better amp for running a second speaker, but most important to me is that it sounds better. Better remote, remote range won't be an issue even if you can't see the call.

204,

I took a look again at the Fury II you speak of at Calebas online. It looks to be better than the Wildfire but I initially did not think of this because of its 1 year warranty which is kinda short in the warranty dept.

Thinking this over and I again looked at the Crossfire and its only $100 more than the Fury II @ Cabelas. As you can see...money keeps escalating when you move up in model.

How come does Allpredator not carry the Fury any more? And the Crossfire shows a 5 year limited warranty while the Wildfire is 1 year warranty. What does the "limited" cover compared to some that does not list "limited".

I think I am going to have to go for the Fury II now since you mentioned how much better it is than the Wildfire. But considerign the Crossfire also now.

Here is another thing. Allpredator I believe where I saw this says if a retailer is not an authorized dealer then the Foxpro caller you buy is not covered under warranty. I looked on the Cabelas site and do not see the Foxpro authorized logo?

The warranty is in the box. FoxPro will warrant Cabelas sales, they carry tons. If not Cabelas will take them off the shelf, you can count on that.

There's a paper in the Fury II box, that says 5 year warranty from Cabelas, has a checklist of everything they went over. I'm going to say they are putting them out at that price to compete with Primos, etc. Since Primos callers are a lot higher quality then their old Powerdogg.

Allpredator,
Thanks for the link. At least Cabelas is listed on the list of authorized dealers. But it does not say that Foxpro will warranty refurb products or discontinues products so I presume they do warranty them.

Bob after Bob,
I find it strange that the paperwork in the box says 5 year warranty when on Caleb's website it says 1 year warranty. Definitely confusing from my end. However with good reviews on the Fury this is definitely a better buy than the Wildfire from what everyone is talking about.

logstove, I'd venture a guess that the paperwork you are talking about is the original warranty put in there when FoxPro first boxed the ecaller. The 1 year warranty pertains to the refurb unit. I don't think you will have any problem with a refurb ecaller.

The refurbished units should have "Refurb" or something to that affect marked on the bottom of the caller which will indicate 1 year warranty item.

Hope that helps,

Justin

I just purchased a crossfire. No regrets. I really like the remote and capabilities compared to the wildfire 2 which I first considered. Buy once cry once and don't leave yourself saying "should've, would've, could've". With that being said, I have not used any other model foxpro to compare the differences in the field, but I'm glad I went with the crossfire. Plus as a bonus the week I ordered my crossfire I found the foxjack decoy to attach to it on sale at my local Dicks Sporting Goods for 19.99 andi even had a leftover gift card from Christmas so the decoy was basically free to me after the sale and gift card together.

Adam,

I will probably get the crossfire also. I think for the price I get alot more features. Predator hunting is over for the most part here except for Coyote hunting which is year around here. I have a property to hunt down southern VA and in Shenandoah County owned by a friend. This property in Shenandoah has foxes as everyone sees foxes there so I am not sure if it has coyotes on this property because they generally do not coexist. I am currently making a decision whether to buy the crossfire now or later in the spring and test it out.

Someone mention the remotes are hard to see on the Crossfire esp for older guys. How does the remote view on yours? I use glasses for reading but otherwise no glasses for me. Hope I do not have to wear glasses to work the remove on crossfire.
