Will this amp work?

Hello everyone. I tried a search but found nothing on this particular amp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009W...cs&v=glance

It is a "Sonic Impact 5066 15-Watt Portable Class-T Digital Audio Amplifier." I was wondering if this amp would be a good candidate for my first home-brew caller. I will be using it for crows and like that this model has 15watts x 2 channels. I noticed at least one member running two horn speakers in opposing directions and would like to do the same. I will be using an existing mp3 player, hence the need for an amp.

I've been a long time listener, first time caller. I think this site is great! Happy hunting!

Keep in mind that 2000mA is 2 amps. So I am not sure what the run time would be on this unit at a given output level when using AA batteries. I read a little on the reviews and here is a quote from one person.

Quote:
"When used with AA batteries SI sounds best only when batteries are fresh; it's also uneconomical so the best option for use at home is a regulated power supply"

Quote:
"SI may need as much as 3A during peak demand."

Here is the link to the review that I read.

I guess my only concern would be the current demands of the unit particularly when using AA batteries. I might be a little over cautious and if so it wouldn't be the first time.

Good luck on your call and post your findings if you use this amp.

Thanks for the reply and bringing up some important concerns.
Another reviewer stated, "...with 8 1.2V NiMh recargeables I could listen for 4 to 6 hours at decent volumes..."
Sounds somewhat promising. I guess I won't really know until I try.

The reviewer who stated, "SI may need as much as 3A during peak demand" also mentioned "SI's own 12Vdc adaptor. It produces 12.3Vdc, however it can only supply a peak of 1.5 amps." So what is it really going to take to blast to crow sounds with this thing?

Maybe I will try it out, using a 12vdc gel cell to power it. Power supply seems to be the only major concern. The majority of purchasers seem very satisfied with the sound quality.
