Guys i just bought an Wilson combat super sniper Ar-15 rifle in 223. I bought this on a whim!! I know Wilson has a good name but i was hoping i could get some info on how these rifles compare to some of the other top name rifle makers. This rifle is unfired and comes as a package deal from Wilson with a buckmaster 3x9x40 scope. Wilson combat case 3 mags and some other odds and ends. What would be a good price for a package like this? Just looking for some info. I contacted Mike Milli about a k-8 and i was going to go this route, until i stumbled on this one. I have had a couple different ar, and i just dont feel comfortable with the set up, so i am hoping this one works out, if not i will just sell it. Thanks Lee

While I don't know anything about that particular rifle, I would venture to say if it has Bill Wilson's name on it and it came from his shop, you can pretty well bank on the fact it is very well made and excellent quality.

I have a friend that knows Bill personally. My friend is very well known and respected in the IDPA ranks. The only people he will let do work on any of his guns are either Bill Wilson or Bill Laughridge at Cylinder and Slide.

Just my .02!

I looked at those rifles. Very nice, but they're expensive. Wilson didn't cut any corners and they come with an accuracy guarantee. Personally, I don't have that kind of money.

Lee:

I have the most recent Wilson Combat 2009 retail pricing, and the Super Sniper w/Armor Tuff (SS-15A) is $2225, the parkerized (SS-15P) is $2100.

I looked at Wilson's catalog and couldn't find anything on a Nikon scope option.

That probably got added after-market. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

If it's in good shape, you got a steal for $1500.

No they offer it on the package. You can go with the 3x9 buckmaster or a 3x9 3200. I read it on one of the sites for the rifle. Not that i will keep this scope on the rifle but i can offer someone a good deal on it and then get a monarch! I dont have the rifle yet. It will be a couple days. I will post pic when i get it. I thought you were getting away from the AR platform /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I hope you change your underwear as much as you change guns! LOL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Does anyone know what barrel maker wilson uses in these rifles? Lee

This is a total guess, Lee, but the twist rates offered are the same as Olympic Arms SUM barrels. Once you get it, look at the breech and forward of the gas block and post what codes you find, maybe we can figure it out from that.

Ar rifles are not my favorite rifle to shoot, but this one was just to good of a deal to pass up. I do probably trade and buy to many rifles, but what the heck, I can!!! Lee

Best i have been able to come up with on the barrel from some other forums is that wilson might supply wilson combat with the barrels, but i am not sure! Lee

You only live once, Lee, enjoy it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was taught if I did not have anything good to say to keep my mouth shut; then I joined the Marine Corp and after 20+ years I became in charge- So considering both how I was raised and how I was trained- I will say that " in TX we don't take a mule to a horse race and I don't race for second place". A wilson will work- but it is far from what is needed to be the best. So you get what you pay for in accuracy and longivity. A Krieger, Obermyer, or Lilja will shoot twice as tight and last twice as long. But I am easy and appreciate the thread. Keep center. JHG

Well guys I think my deal is to good to be true. I tried to contact the fella with the add on guns America today and the phone was disconnected. I always make it a practice to talk to the people i buy firearms from. This guy doesnt have any feedback and now he will not return my e-mails. I havent sent any money yet so i am safe there. I always figured guns America was fairly safe? I am not going to assume the worst just yet, as i will give this a bit more time. I hope it works out, but if it doesnt, It doesnt! Lee
