Win 748 Pet Loads-223 AR

I just traded the bolt off for an R15(.223). I have 2 pounds of win 748 on the shelf and would like to use it up. Would anyone care to share their pet load?

Anyone shoot sierra 52 gr hpbt with win748?

I have also read that several guys on this site like the Ramshot Xterminator. The bunch of guys I hunt with use Xterminator exclusively through their AR's. How will 748 compare to the Ramshot?

I used 748 Win. powder for years in bolt rifle and AR both, was best powder for reloading .223 I ever tried, pours great through power measure and was very accurate in every load choice that I tried, want to think I loaded 28 gr. of powder in load, but check that to be sure, that wasn't a max. load, but loaded it for probably close to 30 yrs. never seen any need to change to anything else.
 
I've switched from W-748 to Ramshot's X-Terminator and TAC and found that the Ramshot powders seem to burn a little cleaner...both meter better that most other powders, including W-748, that I've tried..

I read somewhere that W-748 was the powder that was originally designed for the AR round and I've never had a problem with it in any of my rifles....in either .223 or.204...

If you check a current burn rate chart, you will see that the two Ramshot powders and W-748 are really close to each other..

I have Sierra's load data in a PDF format that is specifically for ARs (different than bolt actions).. If you don't have it, PM me your e-mail address and I'll be happy to send it to you..X-Terminator powder is not listed as the Sierra information was done before Ramshot hit the market...
 
Yup 28gr. W748 with 40/50/55gr bullets, drop down with the 69 gr bullet.
Its been my go to load for the last 30 yrs in all my .223s, yup & accurate!

X-term is very good also as well as BLC2.
