Winchester 1300

Camo

I bought a barely used winchester 1300 12 gauge from my freind today and was wondering if this gun is any good. It looks like a decent gun, and it fits real nice, and I was just wondering should I hold to it, or should I flip it?

thanks

Great picture of the fox... are you sure it's not a 1300? If it is you have a great shotgun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I am a big fan of the 1300. Have owned several, and plan on purchasing a new one soon. For some reason, they fit me better than the 870s, and I shoot them quite well. I actually used one for Trap one year. Averaged 23 targets per.
My only issue with them is that the barrels aren't backbored- it seems sometimes that heavy duck/goose loads sometimes don't eject well. Remingtons Hevishot B loads turned it into a jamming Mofo. Federal Tunsten loads functioned fine. Environmetal's Hevisteel loads were 50/50.
Most normal steel loads worked fine.

The only breakdown I recall involved the Black Shadow I had. I used it as a crutch to lever myself out of the mudhole I had my duck decoys in, and bent the stock bolt in the buttstock. In the area where it mates to the receiver, the Synthetic stock material is a bit thin and it egged out, allowing the stock to shift sideways about an 1/8 inch. Made a new bolt at work, plus a reinforcement for that area, and glassed it all in with Acraglas and it was as good as new.
