Winchester .243 55 gr Ballistic Silvertip?

I have shot ground hogs and crows with them out of my Savage 12FV 22-250 everything has been bang flop! They group very well at 100 yards, I haven’t had a chance to stretch her legs yet.

I"ve used them out of my moms .243 at 4100fps on a few coyotes. The ones I shot were all bang flops. They did not exit, but the entry holes were pretty nasty. Its kinda toss up because IMO, they can be a good fur bullet because there going so fast, there a light bullet, and they dont penetrate to well. So with that being said, yes they can be a good fur bullet, but look out for entry holes as sometimes they will be just as big as an exit. I would try to stay away from the shoulder if at all possible. Try for behind the shoulder and you'll be good to go!!!

I had ok success with the factory loads out of my .243 on coyotes. None got away, although some had large entrance holes. The factories, out of my 22" barrel were only going 3710fps, instead of the 3910fps claim. My handloads with the same bullet were doing a true 3900+ and made much larger holes and always exited (unless it was a full frontal shot).

I had extreme exit wounds with them most of the time so I switched to the 58 gr hornady vmax's. I've had a lot better luck with them. Every once in a while you will still get a nasty hole but they are a lot better than the 55 silvertips'.

I personally hate polymer tip bullets but they can help in accuracy in very long distances. I havent heard much good about them in the entry and exit dept either. Whats wrong with a HP or SP??
