need some help with the bolt, how does the safety work on this?i tried moving a prt on the back but it acts like its stuck, friend at work wants the rifle redone, itys been sitting in a barn for years.

I had a Winchester 67, I just thought the gun was either cocked or decocked.

Now that I think about it, if you barely pull the back of the bolt where you cock it, you can half cock it. Like a SA revolver. Other than that I know of no safety

If you look closely on the firing pin directly behind the receiver (lower side) you'll see a tiny pin. When the firing pin / hammer is pulled back to the cocked position the safety tab is rotated CCW 90 degrees and the tab will be in the vertical. That little pin is now blocked by the safe and the firing pin / hammer cannot fall.

when i put this gun back together what do i need to do?i tried it earlier and it seemed like the trigger wasnt moving anything?

Have you pulled the bolt out and looked at the bottom side? It may be just plugged up with 50 yrs. of crud that may be preventing the safe from turning. A good blast of brake cleaner and some oil might do the trick.

It's not a very complicated mechanism.

Is the firing pin coming back all the way?
