Winchester Model 70 Ranger .223

Anyone have any knowledge about a Model 70 Ranger in .223?

I can't seem to find any on the net in .223 to find out how they typically shoot, and a value.

I'm looking at one that is probably 90% with older Redfield rings and base.

Looks good, but I'm no Winchester guy!

There is one on gunbroker.com with three bids $356.00 with two days left.
I bought a m70 ranger in 270 for my boys to use maybe 8 years ago and it shoots better groups than my m70 XTR does!

I've got one in .223 and have owned it for many, many years. It will not put all the bullets in the same hole. It will not shoot lights out. It will not shoot bug holes. It will not do anything worth mentioning all day long(I think it's a union rifle).

With my poor shooting habits it will usually shoot an 1" to an 1 1/4" with about any factory ammo.

But it has killed a whole bunch of coyotes, a smattering of fox, a few cats, some badgers, a truck load or 3 of prairie dogs, jackrabbits galore, some stuff that I can't mention, paper, steel and various fruits, nuts and veggies. Probably some other stuff too.

Been a good rifle. I don't shoot it much these days and might would be willing to part with it if anybody happens to be interested.

I like him even better now

Well I didn't figure it was a tack driver. The action is smooth as silk though. And it's in really good condition. I hope it shoots as good as it looks, but if it shoots 1" groups that will be sufficient. Like was said above, it doesn't have to be super accurate to kill critters.

Isn't it just a Model 70 with a birch stock? A friend has one in .243 he bought new in a youth stock. It shoots like it is supposed to.
