Winter Boots

The boots I Have currently been wearing for Winter Time Hunting are on their last legs. Im looking for a boot that is well insulated and does a good job of keeping your feet warm in the winter time. Water proof would be nice too. It can get pretty cold here in the winter...down in the single digits at times.

Any suggestions?

Hey Gary, i ve been looking around at a million boots because im moving to W. AK, and it gets like minus doubole digits there a lot, lol. and i keep going back to pac boots. schnees or whites with the artic liners. lace up and good fit for walking around, keep your feet warm and dry. Also sorrel has an artic boot i tried on and its like a comfortable to minus 20 boot while sitting, it was very comfortable too.

Irish setter are simply awesome. I have some 400 gram for walking and some 1000 gram for sitting in a tree. They are very light weight, fit like sneakers and stay dry and warm. I skimped by on boots for years, then I got good ones. I am never going back! Also, just as important as the boot is the sock. I apply aerosol Anti-Perspirant on my feet then slip them in a Merino Wool sock. My feet dont get over heated or cold with this system.

1000 gr

400's

I learned that one from all of the snow boarder and skiers in Utah. I was doubtful till I tried it!

Take a look at Cabela's Outfitter pro hunter series in 1200 gram. These boots are about the best you can get. They also have gore-tex. I hun coyotes in the winter and never had cold or wet feet. Tom

Try Sorrels they have a wool/felt liner that can be thken out to dry. I wore them for 3 years driving a concrete truck in the winter and never had cold or wet feet.

Get some white military surplus boots. the big rubber moon boot looking things. I wore them while calling last winter and my feet were plenty warm even with ankle basketball socks on. Plus you can find them cheap.

If you will be anywhere near water, or have a chance of getting your feet wet, then get the Military "Bunny Boots". They're the only one's that will save your toes in arctic temperatures if you get wet feet. Try to find the original, surplus Bata models, they're the warmest. Don't get the black models they're not rated as low as the white models. Trust me, I've gone in the water at -30ºF and didn't lose any toes.

If you're not around water, then these Wellco Mukluk style airforce boots will work:

Then, see if you can find one of these liners:

You have to try on the liner with the Wellco though, because if you have too large of a foot, you won't be able to zip up the front of the Wellco.

You asked for warm boots, so there you have it. If your feet freeze in either of those two setups, something is wrong.

Thanks Guys. I have narrowed it down to Irish Setters. But Im torn between a couple differnt ones.

Thanks again for all of the Input
