Wipe Out?????

Is it as good as people say it is? I'm thinking of ordering some cleaner and the accelerator. Do I need both or is the cleaner good enough by its self? Thanks!

It's good stuff when I used it. I've never used the accelerator on it.

I have switched to Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner and it is very good too. Two treatments on bad bores and three on terrible ones. 90% of my barrels will be clean in one. I've tested it with SWEETS on several barrels as follow up and found it to be very effective.

I have used it and have friends that use it religiously. If the gun is real dirty you foam it and let it set a few hours or overnight. Swab it in the morning and it usually cleans with little effort.

I think they are both good products. The GFBC is just a bit off the mainstream of the rest. Wipeout was the one that revolutionized the cleaning industry IMHO and gets the lion's share of business because of that. Kind of like Xerox. Everyone makes a Xerox even if it is a Minolta..LOL

I've never used the wipe out, but like Greg I use the Gunslick foaming bore cleaner and it works really well.

I guess I'm getting lazy. Just looking for something that is good and fast.I have several bottles of cleaner and most work good with a little elbow grease. I even tried the Remington cleaner with the little rattle ball inside. It actually works pretty good too.

I use the accelerator and liquid Wipe Out. Excellent combination
if you're patient. Give it a good scrubbing with nylon brush
and let it set overnight, or even 24 hours, it won't hurt
anything. With extremely dirty barrels, it may take a couple
procedures.

I'm with you. The Gunslick gets it done in under an hour of waiting in the worst case scenario. 20 minutes in most and no brushed ever...LOL

Greg

I've used WO and like the fact that you can leave it overnight on really heavy fouled bbl. Really couldn't see a lot of difference with or w/o the accelerator.

As Greg said, Gunslick foam is excellent plus it is available locally so that's what I currently use. Have tested both against Sweets w/same results as Greg, as well.

I use the accelerator and liquid Wipe Out also, Great stuff! The Gunslick is good stuff also but I prefer the Wipe Out, with a good bore guide it is a lot easier to clean up and not get stuff in your action and in my case out of the Quick detach's that are on most of my rifles. Both Great products..

IME, either of the foam cleaners work better on copper than carbon. I usually run 8-9 strokes w/a nylon brush soaked w/Hoppe's Benchrest, let is soak a bit then dry patch and follow with the foam.

One overnighter w/the foam usually is all that is needed on my good barrels, some factory (great shooters, but not as slick as the better barrels) require more.

I use Accelerator and Kroil one patch each Kroil first. Wait 5 mins then foam Wipe out. Hour later 3-4 patches bore is clean, works on rimfires also.

Well, it was a toss up on what to use so I went with the Gunslick. If I don't like it, I'll try the Wipe Out next time. LOL I hate decisions.

You can always use it for shaving cream. It's that gentle.

Works great on copper, and most fouling, but not so well on hard carbon. The only other down side is whatever that it has in it for corrosion protection, or maybe it is just so clean, it would take three rounds to settle down. I now run a wet patch of lighter fluid down the bore to remove it. Then a dry patch before shooting, seems to help.

For hard carbon, GM top engine cleaner, a good long soak, bronze brush, then a patch with JB bore cleaner to finish.

hoppes 9 with a nylon brush and 60 minute soak then patch out then liquid wipeout applied with several wet patches and set overnight. clean bore with no real effort involved.
