Witt Clamp on Break

Anyone use them? A guy at the club was using one and he was very pleased with it. A lot cheaper than having a barrel threaded and the cost of a break for sure. My barrel is 20" and they said they needed to remove the barrel to thread it, $150. Then the cost of a break. My 308 Tactical bucks like a wild bronc and kicks about as hard to. I'd like to tame it down a little. I was thinking for $80ish might be a cheaper way to go. Not to crazy about the looks but if they work. Like said....just thinking.

Funny how every 308 seems a little different. I had a Sako with a sporter barrel shooting basically the same load and recoil was mild. I had a Remington LTR in 308 and recoil was very manageable. But I also had a Remington Police with the longer barrel and now this Remington Tactical that came in a Hogue and is now in a B&C and its all you can do to keep in in a rest. The Police was the same way. It just made it not a pleasant rifle to shoot. I'm not really recoil sensitive but this rifle is tough on the shooter. Its accurate but its bucks and bucks alot. Maybe I been shooting to many small caliber rifles. I do seem to like them more as I reach the "Golden Years". I guess I'm just looking for a cheap way to tame this bucking bronc down a little.

I have a Savage 10 SR-LE or something like that. With a 16'' heavy barrel. It has some recoil to it, even with 150s.

My rifle is pretty heavy. Its not so much the recoil as the jumping and twist/torque? Lighter loads might calm it down a little but it shoots my handloads really well and hate to change them to much. we shall see how the Witt break does and go from there.

Most people next to you usually don't. LOL, that's what ear protection is for. Its not that the recoil is so bad but the muzzle jump is horrible. I had a Contender in 30-30 that was even worse. My buddy said it jumped 12" off the rest everytime I shot it. This 308 isn't that bad but it jumps.

Any idea how long it takes before they ship? Ordered on the 19th and when I check it says "processing". I did order it ceracoated. Maybe it takes a little longer.

Imagine carrying a 300 Win Mag in a belt holster for protection so you can shoot the bad guy at 500yds! Much to much guessing in long range shooting for me to try it on anything other than a paper target. I have no interest in trying a humans limited skills on any animal that a miss placed bullet could mean a long lingering death! We buy a range finder because at some point we can no longer judge range anywhere near accurate, we buy a flat shooting cartridge because at say 600 yds the bullet path is not as high as a closer shooting cartridge. We buy a high power scope because it's hard to see a small aiming point at 600 yds even though it the same size as it is at 100 yds!

With all due respect.....What does this have to do with a muzzle break?

Although reviews on the Witt break are very good. I can't say much for customer service. I ordered on the 19th of last month and all I could get was that my order was "processing". I sent an email two weeks ago and go no response, another last week, no response and another today and no response. Not so much that I'm in a hurry, just like to know what's going on with my order.
I ordered another break from American Precision Arms on Saturday evening and have gotten 3 emails from them already. At least I know they are still in business.

I hate eating crow but I'm getting pretty good at it here lately. After a few minute of research I found the phone number to Witt Machine. I called and a very pleasant lady answered the phone. Seems the person that answers emails has been gone a while so she has her job and his. She looked my order up and it was setting on the table shipping today. I'm a little impatient at times but customer service or lack of really sets me off.

Well my break arrived. LOL its huge. Looks like it belongs on a 50 cal. But I will say the machine work looks very good. And it fit like a glove. Now if it just works. It does look kinda cool....Tacti-Kool. Actually fits the guns looks. The Cerakote is a near perfect match as well. The rifle is a 700 Remington Tactical with a 20" barrel in a B&C M40 stock. I guess I really have no complaints.
