Wolf ammo is basically cheap plinking ammo when all you want to do is send round downrange. It is steel cased (non-relodable) ammo. One of the problems with the steel casing is that it has a corrosion inhibitor coating on the casing that has a tendency to melt and foul up the breech causing extraction problems. But if fired in a slow consitent manner where you keep the barrel temps down it should perform ok.

Personally, I stay away from super cheap imported ammo. Other folks shoot it without care.

Unless you are shooting some kind of AK clone -- Don't use this stuff. It will gum up a reciever like you wouldn't believe and will completely stop an AR from functioning.

For cheap plinking ammo try S&B. It's not much more money but much better ammo.

I have a custom gun that was built with a pull off barrel from a Russian gun. It is chambered in 7.62/39 and flat key holes with the Wolf ammo at 87 yrds. The gun shoots the cheap Russian soft point real well, but not the Wolf ammo. You should never shoot amy steel cased ammo in an american made barrel.

ksboy2,
At the range, Wolf is all I shoot out of my AK-47
SAR-3 in 223, It has never missed a beat. However I have heard a lot of negative reports of fouling problems in AR's. The bullet and casing is factory coated with a lacqer finish that gumms up when the rifle gets hot. It seems close tolernce rifles like AR's have problems with it. I have had my AK so hot the for arm was literally smoking and it never missed a beat.
I like the ammo myself and it is cheap enough to use on jackrabbits. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

i shoot the 7.62x39 outta my russian sks 45 all the time and i've never had it jam or any problems.. It's like 3 $ a box and shoots good for me, brings down deer just fine.. i like it

Wolf ammo is complete junk, but i shoot it out of my NEF 223 and like everyone else says, it does gum up and get jammed and it does not always empty the unloaded round.. it somehow expands a little and keeps the little things from pushing the shell out!! so i just run a cleaning rod down te barrel and it usually pops it out! But shooting a tweety bird with a .22 hs gotten boring, so a .223 55 grain FMJ has become fun, but the accuracy sucks really bad, so if i get lucky, i get one a day! but its fun!! lol!

OK well my 2 cents!

I had to send my brand new Savage .223 back to the factory because the first shot with Wolf ammo caused the casing to stick vey, very hard into the barrel. Friends on the BB here have told me not to use it because of the coating on the steel casing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Junk, wouldn't touch the stuff if it was the last ammo on earth..............

YOU get what you pay for as they say......

Got an AK in 7.62 x 39 that loves it, no problems ever, killed Fox, Coyotes and even Bobcat and one prairie dog. The 123 HP are not fur friendly but if the bullet touches them they go down on the spot.

I know of both an:
AK in .223 loves it too, no problems ever
and a:
16" AR "M4" "built to blast" that loves it too.

( the latter two are known to get VERY WARM but keep the party going )

You sure arent going to win any BenchRest Matches with the stuff though.

Two days ago, I clean my bushy AR15, had shot over 400 rounds, of wolf ammo, it was a little dirty, but I found, not one little speck of lacquer, and I've shot over 1600 rounds, of 223,55gr.HP,I get 1"to2" at 100yds.thats me not the ammo or the rifle, they do better, and I just order 2000 rounds more, from cabelas, at $95 per 1000. any way back to the lacquer problem, there is no problem, wolf does, not cover the primer with lacquer, only the casing, went out this morning and call in six coyotes, got two, then when went by the rifle range and shot 200 rounds more.
P.S. don't tell any one about wolf ammo, the price may rise.
