SURE HOPE THAT WE GET TO SHOOT SOME OF THESE WOLFS THIS YEAR . DON'T THINK THE ELK OR DEER OR MUCH ELSE WILL BE LIVING IF WE DON'T /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

come on over anytime we have alot to give away /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

I don't think hunting will do much to reduce the number of wolves. I believe, initially, there'll be some taken, but once the wolves realize season's open, they'll be much harder to take. Most will likely be incidental kills. I think most people who say, "I'm going wolf hunting" will come home empty handed. I doubt the annual take will be more than the pup recruitment each year. IMO, the only way we'll reduce wolf numbers is to have a hunting AND a trapping season. That ain't gonna happen..... I might be proven wrong though.

YOU ARE PROBITY RIGHT BUT IT WOULD BE A START,IT COULD ONLY HELP. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Unfortunatly,,, Mason's right. The way they got rid of them originaly was by trapping and poisioning.
That sure ain't gonna happen again.
I live in the middle of this mess and can pretty much assure you that very few tags will be filled legally.
We won't be able to use calls either since they're designated as Big Game. Other wise you could kill one every day by simply using a recording of some baying hounds.
Alot of the hound hunters up here have simply quit because they can't get to the tree faster than the resident Wolf Pack.
Many of the Lion guides up here also log for a living so now they've lost both incomes.
Disgusting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Barney,,, I'm over by Orifino so I feel your pain,, but please quit yelling.

I think huntin wolves is a good start, but I agree, that many tags won't be filled. The guys that know how to kill wolves are doin it right now,for the most part. Lets be honest, many guys kill wolves on sight, and use everythin they know to "hunt them",every chance they get.Makin it legal, and sellin tags won't chance things much, but it is a step in the right direction.

Regarding the 3S subject, I sympathize with your concerns but it's PMs policy not to condone the promotion of unlawful activities.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I hope you get your chance to hunt them. Like Duane said it owuld be a start. But from what I have read I think they will have it wrapped up in court agian.

Devin is right, the "bunny humpers" will have it tied up in court again. It's hard to beat them, because they have the "deep pockets" of other nitwits on thier side. They can afford to go to court over and over.
There comes a time " when a man must do what needs done, and to [beeep] with the law".
I don't advocate anyone "breaking the law", but a man will only tolerate so much.

Sooner or later they will have to do something about it. Im ready to do my part. I hope its this fall, but if not Im sure its coming. A few months of open season requiring a tag will likely show poor results. Most of the guys I hear talking big will never get around to actually going after a wolf anyway. If they come across one they will shoot it but wolves are smart. As the problem gets worse the restrictions may relax into longer seasons. Ill be ready.

Oh, I know plenty of knowledgeable hunters that will be after em. There are certain tactics that work better than others. BTW calling with hand calls is legal in both Montana and Idaho. It will take trapping to control their numbers and Montana knows this. We don't have a season for this yet but the department knows this and is waiting to see how many end up with tags attached to them. I'm thinking even though this will end up in the courts, we will have a season without a stay being put in place. There's just not enough evidence to halt a season now that Wyoming's out of the picture.

WELL IT BEEN 12 HRS SENTS THEY DELISTED THE WOLVES AND THEY HAVE NOT FILED A LAW SUIT YET /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Rick,
I haven't seen any details on what type of hunting will be allowed. At the time our 2009 big game regulations were printed the whole thing about wolves was still iffy, so there's nothing in the regs about them. I expect if we have a season this year, they'll have to put out a special regulation. I know there are some places we can use e-callers to hunt mountain lions, so it might be a possibility for wolves, also. However, the majority of lion units DO NOT allow e-callers. If I hear anything I'll let you know.

I hope they open it to non residents,I lived in MN for over ten years,I learned alittle about wolves,I called many wolves in Canada. I would like to draw a tag ,if given the chance.
As for mouth calls / ecallers. Look at the good points of a mouth call. Realizim, light weight, no batteries.Used with a decoy, if wolves are in the area, its just a matter of "makin the shot". My experience has been unpressured wolves are easier to call than yotes. They are generally the alpha predator in an area, and if they want a meal, they are not scared to "build to"
Best of luck to anyone that does draw a tag if it goes thru this time.
