Wolf primer

Has anyone used Wolf primer? it appears that the only rifle primers available nowadays is Wolf brand and that makes me wonder about its quality. I read at one point many years ago that modern com-bloc primers are corrosive. Perhaps that is the reason why they are still available?

i have not used them.....but far more knowledgeable shooters than i could ever hope to be recommend them....i'm talking pro's....guys who make their living doing what we do for a hobby...even some BR shooters who love the inside of their barrels like some love their grand-kids (read, spoil'em).

Hi Howard, the quality of these primers are good. I know, the name being associated with Wolf ammo which is regarded as cheap makes a guy wonder at first. But from what I understand they are not actually made by Wolf, but only imported by them with their packaging. Yes they are made in Russia, and no they aren't corrosive.

Don't hesitate to try them. I bought a bunch of them and they shoot great in my 22-250. One thing you have to remember about these Russian primers are that they are a bit larger in diameter than our domestic primers. So make an extra effort to seat them all the way in the primer pocket and you shouldn't have any ignition problems.

I use Wolf primers in SP, LP magnum, and SR magnum. I have not had one ever fail to go bang. I have heard of folks having problems seating them in brass due to a tight fit, but I have never experienced this.

I've used the wolf small pistol primers for 9mm. They seem to work fine but I did have quite a few high primers. I was running them through my progressive press. I believe it was not operator error that caused this. I've used my press to load thousands of rounds of pistol ammo without this problem. I cant complain too much, the primers sure are cheap.
