Just wanted to ask how far north do woodchucks & rockchucks live,do they live in Canada?
After watching the RMVH video,I think I'll get some of you guys to export some over the pond.

Hey there Bull Dog, hope you enjoyed the video!

Yes indeed, 'chucks do live in Canada. All the way up into Alaska in fact. Going from memory here, may not have it precisely correct, but I think there are six subspecies of marmots in North America. The ones you saw us shooting in Varmint Safari were all Yellow Bellied Marmots (marmota flaventris). They are limited pretty much to the intermountain west. The Eastern Woodchuck (marmota monax) ranges all over the NE USA and further north almost all the way accross Canada to the Pacific. The Hoary Marmot (marmota caligata) ranges further north in the Western USA, up through Canada and into Alaska.

These two clover bandits came just a couple of miles from the Canadian border. I've seen them in Canada too. This was in Michigan, but have seen a lot in Ontario farm country too. Nothing better than potting portly pigs...

Gunnut, they are probably above timberline if there are any. Come to think of it, though, I have never seen them mentioned in the G&F literature. So maybe I'll call G&F and ask, or maybe I'll just wait until next summer and go up around Taos, where there is some timberline. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

According to this site, the state of New Mexico "Provides Full Protection," whatever that means. There are some references as to their location too, but I'd confirm with the authorities before I went blasting around the mountains. You can always fall back on jackrabbits...
