Woodpecker Sound?

I have the scratchy version of the Bill Austin tape. In this tape he describes how to make the woodpecker sound. I cannot make out enough of this description to figure out how to duplicate the sound on the tape. I am looking for help on how to make that tweet, tweet from an open reed call???

I wish I could help you. They show how to do this on one of the Randy Anderson videos. I have tried and tried, so far I've just made my tongue sore and botherd the wife. If you get a handle on this let me know.

Copro,
Don't know how to do it with an open reed call but I use the Primo's Hyper Plate Diaphragm call.
This is an elk call but works great for doing the woodpecker, really high pitched. Great for doing barks and yips also.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and got a good description on how to do it.

I hold the call in my mouth with my lips alone at a roughly 45 Degree angle with the reed up. Keeping your lips loose start blowing the call while twittering your tounge (like when we were kids and made machine gun type of sound) then you can change the pitch by tightening your lips and changing the amount of reed in your mouth. If someone could explain how to post pictures on here I would add a few pictures it may help some.

Also you can use a closed reed call and make that machine gun sound and it sounds similar to a woodpecker also and is alot easier to do than with a open reed. Hope I helped.
