And im back from vacation. I strongly recommend any Alaskan cruise. Which one Rich? im twitching

The WT KAS-2010-ORC for $640 is on top of my list but after $33 a sound w/ a minimum of 6 sounds..we are up to $840 and thats alot.

The FoxPro summersale: The FP416R is $465 w/ remote, camo, custom16, charger, and carrying case. It is pg-1 capable(record your own sounds) for another 50 or 60 bucks.

The Loudmouth camo w/ remote and sounds $549.

Im willing to spend an extra dime to get the best. I want the flexibility to call crows in from way-way off and still ofcourse finesse the foxes, coyotes, bobcats.

And congrats on the yote your first time out testing..I think i willed him into you. After you shoot them do you usually say sit down?

Just like commiting to buying a rifle...you want the best you can afford. Can you afford the Cooper(WT) or can you only swing the Savage(fox pro)...save your pennies, get the WT.

The other side of that coin is... How much rifle (caller) do you need? Will a remington work as well as that cooper for your applications?

Before popping for that WT, I'd take some time and do a search of the archives. I think you'll find a lot of good info that will keep you busy for a long time.

Good Reading

Randy

Peoples definition of "best" can vary greatly. I personally don't think the WT falls in that category. I wouldn't even insult Savage by comparing it to it. The Savage is a good rifle.

In answer to your question, I'd prefer anything but the WT.

Just my opinion.

Dogcriplr,
I wish that I had a clear cut answer for you, but I really don't as of yet. The Loudmouth seems to be a really good caller for the money, but I am still playing with it. If you load a "perfect" calling sound onto the Loudmouth, you get a very realistic sound back out of it's speaker. I have a turkey sound on there that sounds so real that it shocks me when I hear it. I like the idea of the six volt sealed lead/acid battery for a power source too. I can't imagine needing more volume, but I can run an amplified speaker and use a seperate heavy duty battery pack for all day use if I want to call crows out of next Zip code.

Now it is my understanding that Foxpro has improved their caller and their remote control since I last tried one. I saw a post recently where one member operated his new foxpro from about 100 yards distance. I also believe that foxpro has added a jack for a remote speaker. We know that both the Loudmouth and the new foxpro are machines that do the job on predators. Which is the best? Too early in the game for me to say for certain. Right now I am betting on the Loudmouth, but the foxpro is too good to not consider it as a possibility.

I havn't heard the new WT with the horn type speaker, so can't actually say much about that model. Bob Ruse in Washington state tells me that he heard the new Wt in action and said it was VERY loud. It should be a dandy for that long distance crow calling you mention. Hard decision ain't it? Sorry I can't be more help as of yet. Give me another couple of months though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dogcriplr,
My Foxpro has been one of those rare purchases where performance exceeds expectations. The only negative that I have to say is that I personally don't like one of the two rabbit distress sounds. Other than that, I have nothing but rave reviews. In fact, I am considering upgrading to the new unit to which I can download my own sounds. (My rabbit in distress brings tears to my eyes, and I'd like to have it on the Foxpro.) I drive neighbors crazy when I'm just goofing around with the crow sounds. It will bring the crows in from a long, long way off. Again, I'm sure there are some dandy e-calls out there, but there are too many positive testimonials in favor of Foxpro to ignore. Most people agree that the WT maker is a rhubarb. The Loudmouth, while promising, is too new and unproven on a wide scale. Foxpro is second to none with customer service. Their remote works out to 120 yards for me. They continue to refine their products by listening to their customers. For the forseable future, it seems difficult to go with anyone else; however, that's why Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors. Best of luck!

Blake

Dogcriplr,

I felt it necessary to revise my post. I got a very professional e-mail from Loudmouth about my above post. What I should have said was that I don't have any experience yet with the Loudmouth. What I learned was that this product has indeed been developed and seemingly perfected over the past several years by hunters. If their level of PR professionalism is a reflection of their caller, it should be phenomenal. My first experience with Loudmouth has been very impressive. I too, am now looking forward to trying the Loudmouth soon. Best of luck in your search.

Guys,
I have been sidelined for awhile because of a medical problem. It seems that there is either a pinched nerve in my cervical spine that affects my balance, or possibly a verteberal artery being partially blocked. I see my doctor again in about two hours, and we will devise a war plan against this problem. I have developed a couple more sounds that sound very promising when played through speaker of the Loudmouth. As soon as I am back on my feet, I will be doing more field testing of this great electronic caller. I know that a lot of you are excited about hearing reports of my field testing. I am sorry for this delay, and I felt that you folks deserved to be informed as to reasons I havn't been out calling critters.
Sincerely,
Rich Cronk

Mr. Cronk,

Sorry to here about your present medical condition(pinched nerve in the cervical area) as I know from first hand experience this type of diagnosis can definitely limit your physical activity levels.

Thanks for being honest as I have come to respect your values and opinions based on your past posts and topics of discussion. Your time and cooperation is greatly appreciated regarding your first hand experience with the new Loudmouth caller. I also wish to applaud others who have expressed their honest opinions concerning high end digital callers they have used in the field.

As a customer who is about to make a $500 to $600 financial decision, I want to be informed of the truth not some kind of "rah, rah, rah ; buy this e-caller because it is cheaper priced and can call predators from 3 counties away!" If I wanted to hear the same old song and dance, I would just watch the late night infomercials which claim their product is better than the competition because....... I want to purchase the best e-caller for my own needs and hunting styles. That's why I am asking questions and doing as much research and homeweork possible. I want this decision to purchase to be my last, and I want to be satisfied with the e-callers features based on my personal hunting needs.

Anyway, best of luck with your doctors appointment as will keep you in my prayers. I'd also like to thank again those who have shared their positive and negative experiences with digital e-callers. I hope to make up my mind in the next several months as will keep everyone updated. thx Blake

Wildcat, your right about asking opinions before you spend alot of money. This forum has helped me decide on alot of purchases. My most recent one was a Rich Cronk howler. Based on the opinions of so many here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I waited for almost 2 years before I bought a new ecaller. I'm glad I waited as foxpro did some great upgrades.

The main reason I bought the foxpro is it so light and compact. I can put that little gem in the side pocket of my BDU's, a couple of good hand calls and howler around my neck and off I go.

I have no personal experience with the WT or Loudmouth. The loudmouth sounds up and coming though.

The very first time out with the foxpro I called in a double and bagged one yote. Impressive to me.

But I would read in the archives about ecallers and make your decision then, good luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey Rich,

We have all known for some time that you are a little "dizzy"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

All kidding aside, I hope they nail the cause and get you back on track soon.

Good Hunting,

Bob

Dogcriplr; You are right, the WT is more expensive than the others. I purchased my first WT in Aug 98. Since then I have upgraded several times. I have been happy with each generation. In reading some of the posts I believe people let personalities cloud their decisions on quality. If you don't like Mr. Martz, that is your decision. However, that does not detract from the fact that he has the best caller, the best library of QUALITY sounds, and a remote that is effective to at least 250 yards, in my experience. I normally do not have any reason to place the call more than 125 yards from me, so to what distance the remote is effective is a moot point to me.
I do not knock the other calls as I have not owned any of the new generation calls. I did try some of them my last trip through Cabela's and they did not cause me to think about replacing my WT calls. That is as much as I will say about the other calls. Let's face it, all calls will call some canines and felines.
I am completely happy with my WT calls and the treatment I have received from Mr. Martz. I find him to be a person of honor and exceptional character.
A lot of WT owners do not post here as every time they say something about the WT calls people like Curt and MIVHNTR get very active with negative postings, character assassinations, and such. So I guess I better get ready for another personal attack.
You are going to make a major investment in the near future. I suggest you find a WT owner in your area and get together with him/her. Compare the quality, and make the decision yourself, rather than listen to a bunch of naysayers. scooter

Mr. Cronk, first thanks for the kind invite to coffee, I will take you up on that given the opportunity.
Last year I had neck trouble, very painful and my right arm kept going to "sleep", I finally got a nerve deadening shot at the nerve root and it has been working every since. No surgery yet!!!
You have my well wishes and prayers.
I am sure you will perform your usual thorough test ASAP.
I will wait.
Carl

scooter, I don't have to attack you for anything. Your actions speak for themselves. If you look closely, YOU brought my name up in this thread, since I hadn't replied to it up to this point. Since you chose to cast aspersions on my character, I will reply to your false accusations. Your rant about "character assassinations", along with the "personal attack" bit, is pure unadulterated BS. It does appear that you have a problem telling the truth. As a matter of fact, this less than truthful story telling is quite similar to the antics used by the wt owner. I've had less than stellar dealings with the wt owner. I can, and will, relate my most foul experiences in dealing with him to anyone that I please. This is not a "character assassination" as you call it. It is nothing more than relating my personal experiences in dealing with the wt owner. If you can't handle it, too bad; it's your problem. I don't worship the wt owner. As far as FoxPro and the Loudmouth callers, as well as JS and some other call makers, the owners answer questions without turning into raving lunatics that resort to name calling and other childish games. That alone would/should cause any potential buyer to look elsewhere. After all, since buying a caller can be a major investment, quality service and support BEFORE and AFTER the sale should go with such an investment. This is what separates a quality, people oriented company from the likes of wt.

PS If you care to continue your tirade, you do have my email address, as does the wt owner. MI VHNTR

C'mon guys, let's try to stay on topic and stop the flaming, I don't want to have to close this topic like every WT topic before it....

Normally I try not to get involved in other people's "head games", but today I'm moved to comment. So, flame away if you want.

Although I am a life-long hand call user, I frequently check here to see what's happening in the electronic world. On thing that seems to be a normal part of many discussions on this site (electronic calls) is a real effort on some folks' part to create p%$$%&@ contests over other's folks' posts.

Scooter: I did not see your comments as anything that anyone would or should take much offense to, but you were correct in predicting it.

It appears that some people have had bad experiences (perhaps legitimate) with the owner of WT, but they like to beat on other people's heads to make up for their frustations. Some of these posts remind me of my ex-wife - I truly believe she suffered from PMS 24/7/365. Wonder what the male counter-part to that is?

Maybe I come back to this site for the entertainment value, but at times some of the discussions/comments seems totally irrational. I might have to find a shrink and have myself checked out to see why I had to comment today.....

scooter, I'm sorry your feelings got hurt. I've have made it clear time after time that my beef with WT is mine and mine alone. Several people I like, respect and consider a friend use the WT. That is their business. I think no less of them.

The electronics forum is for pros and cons of e-callers. Just as it is your right to go on about how great the WT is, it is mine to say why I think it isn't. I consider it valid and pertinent information integral to deciding which e-caller to purchase.

I consider treating the general calling public with contempt a con. I consider posting falsehoods about competitive callers a con. Even though I wouldn't own one, and even after all the crap he pulled, I had some positive things to say about the WT for awhile. Still received irrational e-mail from your hero. I will never make the mistake of supporting him again.

Does it take a rocket scientist to do the math and see that other makers of supposedly "inferior e-calls", that conduct themselves exactly the opposite out-sell the WT hand over fist? Why is that I wonder? Maybe because they do business with integrity and don't bash other products with false claims to promote their own. Something most would consider a "pro".

All these things are taken into consideration when making a purchase. If you went car shopping, and one car dealer told you and all your friends they are morons and the other treated you and your friends with respect and was pleasant, which would you do business with and have good things to say about? Do you think he was banned from every board for displaying benevolent tendencies?

Just as it is your opinion the WT is the best, it is mine that it is not. Nothing to do with personal attacks. Although your beloved WT maker wrote the book on that practice! LOL! Nothing against you or anyone else. Just my opinion. I wish every WT owner nothing but good hunting and have no beef with them.

My e-mail is available also. I would be extremely pleased to discuss this much further in private.

Later, Curt

Guys,
I would like to see everyone be friends here, or at least try to get along. Life is too short to be spending any of it on bickering with each other. All of the callers mentioned will get the job done. That is something worth thinking about. A man can have a heck of a lot of exciting fun with any of those calls too. What more can we ask? When you try walking around all wobbly and have to catch yourself on doorways and such for a couple of weeks like I have, it helps a man better understand the importance of friendship. I have lost a couple of friends on these bulletin boards, and I can tell you it isn't worth it.

Well, it seems history has repeated itself yet again... Now you can go to the other boards and badmouth us for being a romper room board or whatever you want to call it, or whine about us being heavy handed in moderating, but PM is not going to be the arena for your "pissing matches". If yall want to take it to private email then obviously I can't do anything about it, that's where these types of comments belong, actually, they belong in the Recycle Bin (usually represented by a trash can on the Windows Desktop). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Man, it would sure be nice to see even half as much emotion raised about friendships as WT does over which caller is worst/best...
