Wyoming antelope left over licenses

It has always been dads dream to go on a speed goat hunt and we've never been able to make it happen together. Long story short after battling cancer for the last five years he feels that now is the time to go. We haven't done any planning nor did we enter the lottery I'm not very good working on these kinds of things with such little notice. He asked me this morning to check for leftover licenses and I see that there are tags left for sheridan, johnson, campbell, converse counties. Does anyone have any contacts in these areas that may be able to turn us onto a piece of land to hunt? We are not looking for a trophy hunt by no means, just to experience another Western hunt together, no accomodations needed. It would probably be the immediate family (4 hunters) all experienced hunters and able bodies with dad's exception. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. PM please if you can offer any help. Willing to offer monetary or trade??

I would say it is too late for this year to get a good hunt. While I am not familiar with those specific areas, I can tell you that any left over tag this late in the year is going to be left over for a reason. Either they have really bad, access, all private, or they are a tag where they are trying to cut the animals out entirely. Not trying to shoot things down, just being honest with the odds of you getting what you want. Unless your willing to hire a guide or pay tresspass fees it will be had to put together a hunt this late. We are only weeks from opener.

I know your looking for antelope, but what about over the counter elk tags in CO. I could help get you going on that. Lots of public land and there is no tag issue. I know tags cost more, but I would rather spend a little more on a tag with ample ground to hunt than to get stuck hunting a 100 acres all season. Just a thought. Now if you talking doe antelope tags then the price is hugely different. Again if you want to hunt rifle elk in CO look me up I will help u get sorted out.

hey thanks, we've done the CO elk hunt on public and had a great time. Dad's 320 bull hangs over the fireplace and he's mighty proud of it. This is more about the experience and antelope is one he's never done. I can't say I'm too excited throwing a hunt together like this but I have to try. I may however contact you down the road for some advice on a elk hunt of my own. shoot straight, good luck. Matthew

Lots of public land to hunt on in WY. Take a look at BLM maps next to you license areas. No shortage of speed goats in most of the state either. You probably will not be able to put together a world class trophy hunt on such short notice but I wouldn't count it out altogether just yet.
