found a new gun i absolutely am in love with but cant decide on the caliber to get it in because of barrel lengths. its the new browning x-bolt carbon fiber stainless fluted. this will be a deer only gun in the flat wide open praries. i've had a 7mm rem mag before and already have dies and some brass. then the answer would be a no brainer to most to just get the 7mm again. the toss up for me is that its only comes in a 26" barrel which makes it 2 1/4 inches longer than my tikka was. not sure if id be happy with the extra length or not but im sure the extra velocity would be nice. next choice up ballistics wise, which even looks a smidge better than the 7mm is the 270wsm. this model comes in a 26" also but its only 1 1/4" longer than the tikka cuz of short action. and its also available in an odd 23" length. this makes it the same length as the .270 with a 22" barrel and about 2" shorter than what im used to. the 270 could also be my 3rd choice but i want something fast and recoil doesnt bother me. im worried the 270 wsm in a 23" is too short and not at its full potential. i dont know why this is being such a big decision for me but i juat cant come to a conclusion. what would you experienced guys pick under these choices?
