X caliber barrels

I purchased a x caliber barrel last Xmas. Took it to one of the best gun smiths in my state. I ordered it as a blank and had it chambered in 22creed on a 700 action. I struggled from the first load and bullet to get anything under 2" since then I've tried 6different bullets and 5 different powders. Sent it back to X Calber they sent it back saying nothing wrong with the barrel it's the chamber. I took it to a different gunsmith and had it rechambered. Took it home and tried everything again. The barrels sucks it won't shoot. I've tried 2 different primers and two different scopes. I'm done. Know this when u buy a barrel from them they will not stand behind it what they told me was that since it was a blank there was nothing they could do after their smith said the barrel was good to go 👎. My smith slugged the bore and it measured out at .225 and one the lands was deeper than the others and he figured there's something wrong with their button.

Never used a blank from them, but I have several rifles with Pre fit X Cal barrels and have built rifles for friends with Pre fit X Cal barrels and never have had an issue like yours.
The reason I buy Pre fit barrels is that manufacturers offer a 100% guarantee with Pre fit barrels and state that the warranty ends once you have someone work on a blank.

Sorry to hear. No experience with X-Caliber barrels. However, I have had a couple of Criterion pre-fits and they have never failed to impress me.

Their warranty according to their website should cover this barrel.

Sorry to hear about your woes. I bought a 22ARC, AR barrel for an upper I built and it shoots great. Hopefully you get this all sorted out.

I'm waiting on a barrel in 7mm-08 for an AR10 build. I hope I have better luck than you did. While researching various barrel makers I can't recall finding much negative info so that's why I went with them.

6 months ago I got a 7mm 08 AR10 barrel from X caliber. It likes to shoot 3 inch groups at 500 yards no problem. I didn't go with the head spaced bolt because I already had a bolt. No complaints here.

@Dew Claw

That's comforting to know... I'd be happy with twice that as all I need is minute of deer lung. I skipped on the bolt option as well.

Any load recommendations?

I was only looking for high BC long range loads and didn't need to do much testing. I'm shooting Hornady 162 ELDM's with 43.5 grain of Win 760. Hornady 175 grain ELDX with 42 grains of Win 760. Either one would hammer a deer.

I'm sure by having someone else do the chamber you voided any accuracy warranty like I did not getting a head spaced bolt.

10-4 on the bolt and accuracy guarantee.

I have several pounds of W-760 and plan to try the 120 Nosler BT's... thanks for the info.

So if having a gunsmith voids their warranty, what did they think you were gonna do with a barrel blank? Doesn't make sense to me. I haven't read the warranty so I'm just asking questions. But the issue is lands and grooves not a bad chamber. If I'm reading correctly.

I've got 3 X-caliber pre-fit barrel's - two 22 CM, and a 25CM. They all shoot lights out.
This is 5 shots at 100 yds -

I ordered a barrel from them for an AR10 build and had THEM do everything, they will chamber the barrel. They say if you skip the headspaced bolt option they won't make a performance guarantee... from their website:

Due to a logistical limitations and complications which arise with customer-supplied bolts (e.g. arriving too late, not properly documented, etc.), X-Caliber will now only guarantee 1 MOA or less on AR barrels with Rubber City Armory bolts that are purchased through X-Caliber.net and properly noted to be headspaced to the AR barrel on order (either via previous order # or through the same checkout cart as the barrel). Any RCA bolt ordered for an X-Cailber barrel in production, that is less than three weeks into production, will be headspaced to that barrel for no additional fee.

It's a $300 option... honestly, if the barrel won't shoot with a BCG that's in spec their bolt isn't going to make a difference I don't care what anyone says.

Sounds like they (Xcaliber)has you between a rock and a hard spot. They have your money and you have a barrel that won't shoot and they don't want to make it good. I know me, I would send it back, with the slug, and see what they say. If they still won't do anything I'd tell them to put the barrel where the sun don't shine and suffer the lose. Then buy another barrel from someone that will stand behind their product. Its a big $$ hit but not many options. Hopefully it all works out.

That’s what I’m going to do. I just want people know that if u buy a barrel from them and can’t make it shoot u are a sol and they will not stand behind their warranty.

I am in about the same boat. 22 arc barrel from their black friday sale. It won't chamber any factory rounds. I have to seat the bullets 30 thousandth deeper before it will chamber the 62 eld-vt. Then I can't eject them. Pretty disappointed.

I have a PM that says my post in this thread was deleted because it was offending spam... what's that all about? I still see my posts.
