X-Mark Pro Trigger???????

I just got a smoking deal on a Remington 700 VTR .223. I picked it up with the box and paperwork for only $450. It has only had 40 rounds through it and you can't even tell that. I'm stoked.

I have owned a bunch of remington 700's. I have an XCR 300 ultra mag that is my elk rifle. I have always just spent 25 bucks and had a trigger job and have been very happy.

I'm going to read up on the X-mark trigger tonight but I wanted to know what you guys think about them. I will be using the gun for small game, yotes and plinking.

I've adjusted one, with a new spring and set screw, to 2.5# easily and safely. I have no issues with them, though others do.

If need be, look around for an original Walker trigger. They're easily adjusted and made to a sweet 2.5# trigger, without any parts change.

I'm not a big fan of the x-mark pro trigger. I had the external adjustment screw. Even with the screw all the way out pull was still higher than I wanted, forget the exact poundage. The pull weight also varied a fair amount with each pull, measured on my trigger gauge. I ended up with a Timney.

Took a little tinkering with the X-mark but I got mine adjusted with not creep, etc and the pull set at 3.5 lbs which is what I like on my .308.

Best upgrade on my 700 was a new stock!

I have owned 2 of them. One I got down to around 2.5 lbs, the other was junk and I replaced it with an old school 700 trigger. Sometimes Remmy triggers, both old and new, will not get down to as light as I like, but most will. Sometimes I stone the sear a touch or respring......

When I decided to adjust mine I bought a trigger pull gauge and it was very inconsistent (5.5-6.5lbs) however after I got it set to the 4.5lbs I was after it is now very consistent and crisp.

I got it out tonight and put Leupold bases, Leupold rings and the only scope I had laying around. (Bushnell 6-18X50) I can't wait to shoot it. I dry fired it over and over and it feels pretty darn good just the way it is. I'm not sure what the original owner did to it but it feels good to me. I'll reserve judgement until I go to the range.

Thanks for the input.

It sucks!!! not your Dad's model 700 trigger. That is what a few idiots with a screwdriver and lawsuits will do to a good trigger

Sorry was ranting. agree completely with 22-250ohio replace it. Jewell or Rifle Basix make good replacements. Unless you are happy with a 4# creepy trigger on a precision rifle.

I own one gun with this trigger. A Model 7 in .223. It's the externally adjustable one. It's easy to adjust. I'm pleased with mine. No problems.
