XMR and IMR powders...

I see these abbreviations in front of some powders, for example, XMR-2015. What does XMR and IMR mean?

XMR apears to be a product of Accurate powder . As is the case of XMR-2015

Well actually IMR WAS a company of it's own, now it's a division of Hodgdons. But we know what you mean.

Many moons ago when the variety of powders available to reloaders expanded, the initials IMR were used to designate canister grades of I MPROVED M ILITARY R IFLE powder. As time went on, the IMR label became the property of DuPont. The transfer of the IMR designation went with the company line of products, which is now owned by Hodgden. The XMR designation was probably adopted to avoid copyright infringement by a competitor

Don't know what the XMR/IMR means but I have had really good luck with both over the years.
