Zeiss Conquest, Want to Hear Your Opinions

This will be quite a step up from what I'm used to paying for a scope but I've been looking at them online and reading as many reviews as I can. I have some gift cards from Bass Pro to lessen the pain so I'm taking a serious look.

Was looking at the 3.5x10

I'm hoping this scope will be better at getting me some more ID range at night over my Redfield Revenges and Prostaff.

Any Ideas? Thoughts?

P.S. Bass Pro has the 4x12x40 Prostaff on sale for $159 if anybody needs one.

I have owned one for five years. It is good in low light.
I wish the turrets locked.
High end Leupold are just as good.

I have a 4.5-14 Conquest, great scope. Can't comment on top end Leupolds, but it's waaay better than the vxII's I had afa clear and bright. Actually I think it's probably my favorite scope at the moment.

I just purchased the 3x9 Conquest after lots of research and recommendations. It is a really nice scope. I'm not sure it is alot better than my 3x12 Nikon Monarch, which is great. That said I certainly don't regret purchasing it, it too is extremely nice and I can't wait to actually use it afield.

One of our private shooting club's board of directors traded in around 12 Leupolds to help pay for buying enough Zeiss Conquest scopes to rescope his rifles. He'd looked thru too many other brand scopes at our range that were a heck of a lot cheaper that had optics equal to, if not better than his Leupolds. This irritated him so much that he began research on finding another brand of scopes with better glass that he could afford. LOL, he owns one or two Swarvorskis and knew he couldn't afford them. He decided on Zeiss Conquest and is very happy with the brand.

If you decide on the Conquest, try to compare the 3-9 and the 2.5-10 side-by-side before you buy.
There's a pretty good price difference for very little difference in scopes.

I have several Zeiss conquests. I like them a lot except for the weight. My 3x12x56 is as heavy of a scope as I have ever owned. Awesome light transmission but very heavy. 25 ounces i think

It's like $200 for the difference. Other than a bit more zoom and 40 or 44? Diameter I think? Might not be worth the extra but I was really wanting to squeeze out as much light as I could.

Interested to see how the new Terra does. Haven't been able to find any pricing yet.

I shoot Zeiss Conquest 3x9-40 on my 6.8, Leupold VXIII on a couple other guns, and Vortex Diamondback 3x9-40 on my .270's. All in all I'm very pleased with ALL of them.

I love the ziess scope, it's truly a great piece of glass, and I've taken some very low light shots with it. However do yourself a favor and take a look a Vortex Diamondback scopes. While they are less expensive don't let the cost fool you, they are clear and work well. My weapons are being outfitted with Diamonback, or Leupold Mark 4 scopes from here on out.

I recently purchased the Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x44 for my 300 win mag mounted with Talley one piece rings.
I currently own 3 Leupold vx-3, all in 3.5x10x40.
After many comparisions here are my conclusions of the two scopes:
Zeiss
Pros: By the smallest of margins the glass may be a bit better.
Cons: Plastic turret caps, small hard to read hash marks on windage/elevation turrets, power dial turns backwards compared to most scopes.
Leupold vx-3:
Pros: Better eye relief,I like the looks of leupold on a rifle, slightly cheaper than the Zeiss.
Cons: none
Both of these scopes are great hunting scopes and you would not go wrong with either one but my next purchase will probably be Leupold.

Best low light scope for the money. I have never had one fog up. I was with a buddy Saturday on the same stand and his VX-3 fogged up and my Conquest did not. I also like how the power dial is backwards from Luepold. It is much more natural once you get use to it.

At the end of the day its personal preference. My preference is Zeiss.

I checked the Vipers out a little closer online and they seem like a good value, except for having to go and drop another $100 for a 30MM PEPR since I have a 1" now. All of my mounts/rings are 1" and I'm not sure I want to start switching out at this point. Nice to be able to swap a scope between guns without having to replace everything.

Cameraland had some good prices on what was in stock on most of the above mentioned scopes.

I own two, 3-9x40 and 3.5-10x44. To my eyes they are better than my VX3 and VXIII's. With that said, my dad's new 2.5-10 Monarch is also better than the Leupy's in my opinion. I really do like Leupolds, but I feel there are better out there.

You will be extremely happy with the Zeiss. They really do have amazing glass.

I have a couple of Zeiss Conquests. a 3-9x40 on my .223, and a 3-9x50 on my 22-250. They are my favorite scopes that I have.I have a few Leupolds, and a Bushnell Elite 4200 on my .204 and I can tell a difference at the range between all of my scopes. I shoot the Conquests the most so when I trade off, the drop off in clarity of the glass is noticeable. Though I like my other scopes fine and they do the job well, I feel like the Conquest is just a fine piece of glass.

A most important note no one has mentioned, Zeiss has CONSISTENT eye relief from 3X thru 9X. the VX3's as well as most others have SHRINKING eye relief as magnification increases. So on high power you usually have to shove your face into the ocular.....drives me nuts.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm focused in on the Zeiss. Just have to decide which Conquest as that's as expensive as I can go in the Zeiss line. So many reticles, have to get to a store that carries them to actually get a look at the reticles and figure that part out. On the Zeiss, some reticles seem to add $100-$200 per scope.

I think I've narrowed it down to the 3.5x10x50 or 3x9x50. Not too much difference price wise between the 2.

I have more Leupolds than any other brand of scope but if I was starting all over today putting glass on my guns as far as I'm concerned they would all be Zeiss Conquest.

I wish I had a good reason to sell my perfectly fine scopes of other make and top all my rigs with a Zeiss. The truth is that all my scopes are good scopes but only a Zeiss Conquest is a Zeiss Conquest.
