I am looking at some zeiss opicts I am debating on the 3-9x40 or the 3.5-10x44. This is going on a 25-06 I am having a tough time deciding which on will work out for my needs. I am planning on hunting coyotes to big game like deer and antelope. I would really would like some opions and also what reticle would you go with rapid-Z 600 reticle, mil-dot or z-plex. I can't explain really explain what the rapid-Z reticle. I would really appreciate some help.

Get the 3-9x40.
The 3.5-10x44 is a great scope, but in my opinion the difference in the scopes isn't worth the extra cost of the 3.5-10.
If you want more magnification than the 3-9 move on up to the 4.5-14 Conquest.
I like the Z600 reticle, but I haven't gotten to really stretch it out.
 
All I can say is you will be very happy with the Conquest. I have the 3-9x40 Conquest with the Z plex reticle on a 270 Winchester. I don't think you can find a better scope without spending a whole lot more money.

I agree that the 10x scope isn't worth the extra. If you can't hit it with 9, you ain't hitting it with the 10. Have you played with Zeiss's ballistic calulator to see how well your 25-06 load matches with the 600 reticle?
 
FYI...the zplex reticle on the 3x9 looks different compared to the 4x14 or 3x10. The higher mag zplex is finer and wider crosshairs. Either way I really like the glass on mine for the $
 
I did the 3.5x10 with the rapid z 800. Great scope. This is on my cooper 25-06 and that is where is will stay.
The choice of the 3.5x10 was only because I wanted the 800 yard reticle, as the 3x9 is avail. with the 600 yard reticle.
If you don't need the 800 RZ, the by all means, the 3x9 with the 600 RZ is up to the task.
