When It's Not Pretty

We did go calling with the 83% moon tonight. Took about 3 minutes for one to come on the run. I shot just as he was stopping and didn't hit him in the center of the chest but on the left side which destroyed his leg and blew part of his heart out, but he kept going. My hunting buddy shot him a second time trying to give him a merciful end,and then I shot him again to finally finish him off. It was a big coyote but he was shot to pieces by the time we got him killed. It wasn't pretty, and I hate to see one die like that, but it happens sometimes.

It looks like the coyote was just starting to slow up to stop as you squeezed. I think your lead was perfect if it would have stayed at the same pace. Nice shot.

I almost always wait for them to stop as I don't have a great track record of shooting running coyotes. However, in my waiting, I have also lost opportunities. Nice work.
