Best 243 strictly for coyote hunting

The Rugers are the only ones that come threaded.

The Tikka will be more refined, smoother. Other than that, all are very accurate.

IMO. Since all of those rifles are really good rifles I'd go to a few shops and shoulder all of them and buy whichever fit you the best.

Tikka is a smoother action. Ruger is less refined, but threaded. That said I own 4 rugers, 3 predators and a gen 2. 3 are 243s. All shoot fantastic. 65 gr vmax and 55gr nbt are my favorite load for dogs, and 95gr berger for deer. I will add while the gen 2 ruger with the new stock and spiral fluting is an eye appealing rifle, I do not care for the 3 position safety. It almost seems too easy to move. Find myself checking it often.

I just looked at a Tikka T3x Super Varmint in 22-250. It had the slow 14 twist barrel which I actually prefer. Took a lot of will power not to buy it but funds are anorexic right now. Its for sure on my want list. Tikka always will be on the top of my list. The quality and accuracy seems to always be there. If it don't shoot its probably not the rifle.

I like the CTR.

I have not experienced any failures with Hornady vmax 58gr using my Ruger American 243.

I had surface blow ups with 58 v max in my 243. Now I won’t use them on anything bigger than cats and foxes
My post was in regard to what our friend from Australia said. For me the 243 would be way overkill for cats or foxes. Another plus for the 243 and 58gr Hornady vmax is that some properties I hunt have lots of hogs and bobcats, so I want to be prepared for whatever presents. Oh yeah, fur has no value here so collateral damage is no concern.

I have a Tikka 3x Hunter with a Burris XTR 3-15 and like the 58 grain Varmint X. I don't reload, so OTC for me.
The 58gr Varmint X shot great from my Tikka T3x 8 twist but I never used them on a coyote. I don’t reload either. At $50 a box they are prohibitively expensive for me. Hornady Superformance 75 gr shoot great. I found the HSM Varmint loaded with 75gr V-Max bullets at $27 a box is my go to round now. Very accurate and terminal performance is as good as you can ask for.

I'm a big fan of the .243 and 6 CM, But I like the 1x8 twist and 105 gr. A-Max or 105 gr. Scenar, With my loads these bullets will do 3000 FPS and kill anything from a field mouse to a Elk, I don't worry about hides. Murl B.

I went back to Sports World in Tulsa today. The Super Varmint is still there, LOL. I don't know when or where they got them but they had a big rack of Tikka's all shapes and sizes. Tikka heaven.
