Only 6 weeks till Montana WOLF season!

Ruby and I have been doing a lot of scouting this spring/summer.

Checking a few spots to confirm that they're still safe for low water crossing in the winter.

I spent a few minutes adding a few branches to a little blind I occasionally use. I've never seen another human being or even a footprint in this little dry lake bed. I've killed three wolves in this area.

Of course who doesn't enjoy taking their favorite "Bear Guns" out in the backyard for a little practice.

But it's not all work and no play, we still had time to knock down a few coyotes.

Even though Ruby's only job in life is to quietly alert me when she detects a nearby bear or to get it off of me if we ever have a serious problem. She does really seem to enjoy putting the bite on the things I shoot.

Yes, registered Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. Both of her parents are working dogs on a large cattle ranch in NE Washington. Specifically acquired for wolf interdiction. Their heelers and aussies were getting knocked off. She has been an absolute dream to work with. Super smart, very gentle nature and yet when she gets fired up she has Grit!

She just turned 3 and has literally been there, done that on everything in the wilderness.

This one would be very hard to replace.

A bunch of really killer pics. Dogs should live as long as we do. The pic where he is standing in the "ice water", my wife says needs the caption "are you coming". I hope you haven't given up on the helmet cam project. I would pay to see a wolf hunt of yours on video. I would say that I wish you the best of luck, but in your case, you make your own luck with the 3 D's, desire, dedication and determination. Standing by for updates...

A good dog is a treasure. A good dog that knows what its job is is a double treasure

I'll be up in Montana again this year either in the Noxon area or up in the Yaak or both.
