6.5 Grendel

Devastating. If you handload, get ya some 95gr Vmax projectiles from Hornady or 90 gr Varmageddon's from Nosler. If you don't handload, then snag some Hornady Black box 123gr ELD and have a grand ol time.

Try a box or two of the AAC ammo from Palmetto if you don't reload. The sabre black tip are pretty accurate in mine, they are sst's by most accounts, and they are $15 a box, brass case.

Shot some 123 grain SST's today. Gun shoots good. Howa mini action.
Both my Grendel's love the SST's & the ELD'S. I sighted them in with the ELD's and found that the SST's shoot a bit tighter so that either one is accurate. Hope you have fun with your new toy and Happy New Year.

I tried some factory AAC FMJ & OTM today in a howa mini 22".
They shot just ok (1 to 1.5 MOA), but not as good as my sierra 130 TGK handloads over 8208.
Also tried some Hornady black rifle 123 gn ELDM that shot well ~1 MOA.

I shoot these guys' 6mm arc 75gr vmax loads. So far they have been accurate and done very well on coyotes.

Looks like they load even more in 6.5 grendel.

Congrats on the new Grendel! My 18'' proof really likes the 123gr SST's, and the 115gr Barnes TAC-TX. The 115 TAC-TX punch tighter, and more consistent groups at 200 and 300 yds through my rifle. Less damage on fur with the 115's as well.

Yeah they probably won't shoot as good as a good handload, especially the fmj load. The otm shoots ok, the sabre black tip shot better for me though.

I think I tried them in a build 10 years ago and it didn't like them but it was a 9 twist and didn't shoot much well. I'd definitely give them a try, they have a great bc iirc.

I just tried some 100gr Hornady ELD-VT in my AR…had better accuracy with those then Hornady 123gr Black, SST or BTHP that I’ve previously tried….hoping they do well in the new Howa Mini as well.

I shot my 16” Grendel AR yesterday. Was shooting suppressed (Omega 300) and chronoed both 123 gr SST Hornady and the 100 gr ELD VT. The 123 gr was kinda slow out of my AR, averaged 2464 fps. The 100 gr was a good deal faster, averaged 2731 fps. That was right at Hornady’s quoted velocity. I was also sighting in a thermal and intend to use the 100 gr.

I just picked up a Ruger American predator in 6.5 Grendel with a 22" barrel and I have been extremely impressed with what that cartridge can do in a bolt gun. Yesterday nothing shot over an 1" with two loads going .525 MOA and the speed... IMPRESIVE! I loaded some 107 and 123's. The 107 SMK's shot at 2795 fps with Lever and the 123's in my tried and true AR load with 28 grains of XBR8208 averaged 2665 fps with an 8 SD.
