Whats the Cheapest .17 Remington build?

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on having a .17 Remington AR-15 done. I've looked at Bear Creek for the complete AR and currently trying to find a cheap drop in barrel.

I'd also be open to purchasing from someone that has one lying around.

Get a KAK 17-556 barrel and go from there. It’s faster than a 17 rem and the brass is cheaper. KAK sells it pre-sized for a really decent price.

Matt from demoranch got a load to shoot over 5k fps.

My Liberty barrel is very accurate and at only 16”, it’s still flinging a 25 gr VMAX at just over 3800. It’s not a cheap barrel, but it performs great for it’s intended use.

Most of the places that I've looked are out of stock. I kinda just want to dip my toe in before going crazy on a build.

I really like the KAK 17-5.56 idea, but unfortunately they're sold out too.

You have me sold. I'm just waiting for the barrels to come back into stock.

I have tones of 223 and wa in a pawn shop today and scored a set of dies. It was to good of deal to pass on even if I don't have a rifle. Might make good trade fodder down the road of if I decide to build one I won't have to chase down dies.

I sold my 17 Remington upper, and built a 20 Practical. I loved the 17 Rem in my AR for a calling rifle, but no matter what I did, I lost brass...and that brass is tough to find! Sounds like the 17-223 is your best option. Looking forward to a range/hunting report when you get it done!
