So you wouldn't of jumped in front of me when I had to crawl 25 feet into a 30" diameter tile to retrieve a possible live coyote(no light went in blind, feeling with my leather mitts) no one else volunteered.

Reminds me of a trip several years ago, my partner and I set up at a cattle guard (yellow x) w/call @ white C. I shot a bobcat when he stepped out of the brush at about 150-175 yards. (white line). The sat photo was taken in a dry year as the grass was nearly knee deep alongside the two track where he was standing the day I shot him. He jumped about 2 ft. off the ground and disappeared into the very heavy thicket (yellow line).
My partner and I literally crawled into the brush (I don't remember ever standing up in that low brush), figuring it would be dead right inside the brush line. Not today! Tracking was very difficult as the grass was tall, even under the thick mesquite, catclaw and cactus. No visible tracks in the thick grass and only blood to be found was what brushed off on the grass.
There were many "tunnels" through the matted grass big enough for a coyote or bobcat and you might find a drop of blood entering a grass tunnel, or just as the cat ducked under completely impenetrable thicket. At these points, whoever found the blood would peer through the tunnel or under the thicket in the direction the cat was headed while the other would circle the obstruction until he could be seen by the other, then take up the trail as far as he could.
We spent probably 3-3.5 hours playing leapfrog and circling around thickets that the cat could squeeze under, more or less on the yellow line but finally completely lost trail. At this point in time, we were not even real sure exactly where we were as we had navigated so many circles and couldn't see more than 5-10 ft at any given time, but soon realized we were very close to the E-W roadway on S side of the block. Don't know how far we crawled that day, but I was pretty sure it was at least a mile when we finally cleared the brush that day.
The brush was so thick that it broke my watch band pin and I lost my watch in the process. Didn't even try to carry a rifle in, but did have a Mod. 60 loaded w/2 snake shot/3 slugs. Thankfully, we didn't meet the kitty face to face, or maybe worse one on the large rattlers that were plentiful on this ranch, but that doesn't mean we didn't think about that possibility a lot. Finally, we had to leave and couldn't get back for a couple of (warm) days and easily located the cat within 5 ft of that roadway (Red X) by the smell. We had gotten close, but no cigar.
