Hunting boots

I’m looking for some info on a good waterproof boot. No rubber boots I’ve had it with them they always leak after a year or two. I have no experience with anything other than rubber boots,so any info will be greatly appreciated.

Leather and gore-tex. Been happy with my Danner boots I've had for a few years. Little heavy with the larger sole, but warm and dry. Just picked up a pair of Lacrosse (seems to be owned by or same company as Danner). Little tough on the break in, but comfortable and seem to be getting better. Half off sale on them now on Lacrosse website. Lodestar 7" Brown. Come insulated too.

I’ll add this I move around when hunting most stands are 30-45 minutes. The terrain is mostly swampy to hardwood with plenty of streams. The temperatures are from mild to below zero, but my feet very rarely get cold. I’ve been researching online and it’s mind boggling how many boots are out there.

My favorite's are Irish Setter Elk Tracker with Gortex and they're available in variable weight Thinsulate. The mopst comfortable and durable boot I've owned.

Not rubber but neoprene. I am a muck boot fan and have been since they came out. As far as leather-Meindl is my go-to for the last 6-7yrs after using Danner Pronghorns since the 80's.

I buy new rubber boots roughly every 2yrs for archery and turkey hunting. They do not hold up well to much walking. I have pac boots for long winter blind sits. Schnee’s, Lowa or Melinda would be much better walking boots…Schnees run small, I have no experience with the others…a lot of guys like Danner. I’ve had Irish Setters, Red Wings and Rockies as well…the Red Wings held up the best. Hanwag would be another recommendation, as well as trying them all on in-person…I hate ordering boots online.
I did get a pair of DryShod runners this year and so far like them more than my usual LaCrosse Alpha Burlys.

Thanks guys!!!
The same brands keep coming up so I’m going to basspro and get a hand on look at them. Right now I’m leaning toward the Danner or Irish setters.

I picked up two pairs of DryShod two years ago and thought I found my boots, but the Nosho Gesset’s started leaking from the soles yesterday. Other then that there definitely good boots.

I used to wear Danner Ft. Lewis boots when canoe hunting, comfortable for hiking and I could get out of the canoe in the river and my feet stayed dry, they are 10" hight. Now I worry more about my feet breathing than dry, that happens when you move to the desert.

+1 on Irish Setter boots. I have uninsulated and 800g insulated and they are both great. I have 2 pairs of Danner Pronghorns and they are comfortable but terrible in the cold. The soles in my opinion are the problem and let the cold right through when standing on frozen ground. I can’t keep warm in a pair of 800g Pronghorns in mid 20 degree temps.

IDK about waterproof boots, but will offer one very valuable bit of advice in shopping for boots online. A few years ago, I was boot shopping and, my son told his mom to look for Red Head Boots. So I typed in Red Head. Before I could type in boots, a topless image popped up on my screen.....I honestly couldn't tell you if she was red headed or not, but I managed to escape and for months you would not believe the pornographic emails/links found on my computer. Thought I would never get rid of them. Soooo, first of all the boot company is Red Wing!!!!!, not Red Head......be careful and type fast!
if you have wide feet look at the irish setter elk trackers they come in a size H which is actually a 4E, they fit great.
H width!!? Man, you could likely just wear the box! 😜 :ROFLMAO: And I thought my foot was wide (EEE)

Those Irish setters are good strong boots.

My personal favorite are Crispi Thor2. Been using them for elk hunting this year and they're extremely light, waterproof, warm and have NO break-in time. They simply fit. No blisters, no sore feet, nothing.

Pair these with some good American made T&K Gaiters and you're bulletproof.

My favorite pair of Cabela's boots finally had the front rands come unglued, so I gobbed the hell out them with Show Goo. So far, so good, but I'm not going to trust them for the long haul.

So I bought my 1st pair of Crispis to replace them. I've only wore them around the house so far, but very little break in required, & weigh in at 3lbs, 6ozs for the pair, size is 11 1/2 EE.

These are a Midway exclusive, advertised as a 10", but are really an 8".

good mention on the "gaiters", good pair of boots and gaiters and you're ready for the snow with DRY feet... and good wool socks

Thanks guys!!!
I went with the Irish Setter Elk Tracker XD 10” 400 thinsulate. They seem pretty rugged plus I liked the shin padding. I went one size up from my normal boot size.
I couldn’t swing the gaiters, but I’ll be looking for a more affordable pair to test out. Any suggestions on that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

Danners are bomb proof. I have a pair of Fort Lewis that are ten years old.
