What oddball AR-15 calibers you shooting?

Running a 6x6.8spc incarnation called the 24 Varminter here. I've shot a lot of coyotes and other critters with it. It's accurate and effective.

My only complaint with the 24 varminter is the initial trimming of brass. Seems like a lot of unnecessary brass shavings removing neck length that could have been left alone. If I was to do it again, I'd want a version that is simply a necked down 6.8spc and leave the neck long similar to the 222 remington.

I ended up getting rid of all my wildcats except this one. It will be the next on the list to sell.

The reason it needs to be trimmed is to fit the projectile at mag length and be seated in the brass so its in the sweet spot.

I'm an AR guy that loves odd calibers in the platform. Give me inspiration to build another odd one.

Well, maybe not odd ball but fun. Started years ago with a Bushmaster 5.56, loaded a variety of bullets for it and took a few bobcats and coyotes with it. Moved up to a Dtech upper and lower Mike put together for me in 6x45. Wonderful little cartridge, again bobcats and coyotes, and a couple of deer. Then I got a 20” 6.5 Grendel. Love it, works great on coyotes. Last, a .223 Wylde upper just to have.

Sniper Hog Light and a PARD Nightstalker...Nice! Super jealous of the 17 Rem upper.
Definitely odd :)
Now I have a 17 Fireball that I’m starting to play with. Should be fun. It averaged 3713 fps with a 25 gr VMAX today. Not too shabby for that little guy.

The .17’s defy logic with performance on coyotes. Not an AR, but I do have a CZ 527 heavy barrel in .17 Remington that anchors coyotes with 25 gr. Hornady HP’s. Of course, I take broadside shots at a bait site and choose my shots carefully. Usually they just drop right there. My original intent for an AR build was to have Mike at Dtech build me one in a .17 Remington, but talked myself into the 6x45 instead. The 6x45 was a good choice, but the CZ allows for .17 caliber hunting. Great little cartridge. My CZ is doing 3921 fps.

243 LBC. Had a 6.5 Grendel. Wasn't real happy with it so I rebarreled it to the LBC just before Hornady announced the 6 ARC. Love that 6MM round in my AR.
