Buddy shot this in Illinois the other night. Saving it for Groenwald.

Probably 40 ish. He isnt paying much anymore. He doesnt care what color the body is, they get dyed. The tail still only has a limited amount of usable fiber based on location no matter if the rest is white or black, so its probably equal to a 2nd from the top due to the short tail.

A taxidermist would pay more probably
 
Were you able to keep it from stinking? I’ve shot several and they all have wreaked horribly after being shot. I’d like to have one mounted, but end up leaving them where they lay.

Shoot it in the heart/lungs with subsonic 22 or air rifle and they wont spray. They will still stink because they are skunks, but they wont spray.

Head shots will spray 95% of time. Same if shot with a more powerful round that shocks their system.

This is a myth........don't ask me how I know. Lol. They spray about 95% of the time no matter what you do.

Works for me and all the trappers i have talked to. Until this year they used to get almost as much for essence as they did the hide, so its important to keep them from spraying…ive not had one spray ever using the air rifle. Every one ive ever shot with standard 22 or shotgun have sprayed.
