Baiting

Misses? Sitting on ATV with Rattler IR on a BO pistol. 50 yds or less from feeder. 5 hogs come in. 7 shots and missed them ALL. And the hogs just wandered (slowly) off back into the forest. My excuse - changed the reticle and didn't realize it wasn't zero'd. SW update fixed that.

I feel your pain!

I had numerous coyote pics last night on a bait straight south of a insulated deer blind. One had came in for a short time about a hour after sunset. With the issues I have had with apparent zero shift. I decided to put a Wraith NV on my good 22-250, to not take any chances on a wounded/missed coyote. Well at -11 this afternoon, the Wraith lasted(cold/battery just wouldn't stay on) for 2 shots/walking time to the 25 yard target. So off to the blind with the thermal on the AR 223, with some 52 gr Amax bullets. I arrived at sunset, a few minutes later walking in, I see a coyote headed for the bait. He noticed me in my whites and slowly moved east away from me, turning north before entering trees east of the blind. After starting the heater I had a 6" meatball sub and a coke. Pic notice on the phone coyote on the bait. Yesterday I got the WiFi working again(phone setting issue). Took a pic and video. Here is the pic just before the drt shot at 140 yards tactacam just above left reticle. Video if I ever figure out how.

32+ from this location(winter #4) landowner/family deer hunt here. Said deer had been almost gone until they asked me to get rid of the coyote. Turkey and some pheasant starting to show up again also. They're nice people. Let me hunt coyote.

Heading out in a bit to get some butcher scraps and gut pile out, will put a couple cameras in the vicinity to see how they are approaching.

Will be a decent day or night spot as it will be on a lane back into some timber.
Got there last night at 7pm seen a dog on neighboring land at 8pm. Sat and watched for a while longer and a little after 9 pm I watched 3 coyotes come in and took one, the others bolted, no follow ups.

3 dogs coming into field

22M way to go. I went to a pop-up blind last night. 1 showed up. I've been having a poa shift occuring in sub zero temps. Bullet impact will be 3.5 inches low at 100 yards when it shifts. Been playing with a neoprene cover/hand warmer. First shot was a miss, coyote only went about 50 feet and stopped. Drt. Found the bullet strike from first shot, vmax tip in the impact zone.

Light crust, coyote, crows, eagles even some pheasant track show up. Coyote breaking thru, it's been cold, blowing snow. I kept the tip, I don't think it is intact. It's actually a discontinued 52 gr Amax. The shot that killed the coyote, frontal neck/chest junction exit right side just behind ribs. About same distance of snow impact. Crazy the difference in terminal performance.
