Anyone have any real world experience with the Ruger SFAR 16" in 308. I'm looking at purchasing one and will be planning on using a suppressor.

Yes, I have the 16” SFAR and love it. As light or lighter than an AR15. I have an AGM Rattler on top and a Banish 30 on the end. Still coming in under 10lbs I believe.
I had ZERO issues with mine. I shot a box or two of some 150gr bullets I had on setting 3. Cleaned the barrel and put the AGM on top and added the suppressor and sighted it in using 165gr CoreLokts on setting 1 of the gas block.
Since that time I’ve dropped to 110gr Varmageddons and adjusted the scope. Great round for hogs and coyotes.
I don’t even keep any of my other AR’s at the front of the safe anymore, lol. They are seriously heavy compared to the SFAR.
I’ve posted this before, but here it is in action…

I’m not a lock in bench type shooter. I sight in the scope hitting where I want within an inch or better of each other and hunt. So far it’s killed everything I’ve shot with it. As long as it kills, I’m happy.
I’ve read tons of reviews that claimed all sorts of issues including grouping. I haven’t experienced any issues whatsoever. But, I run “good” ammo and not junk through it so that might be a factor with some of the reviews I’ve read. I tend to spend more on optics (thermals) than rifles.
This rifle was bought primarily for hogs, hence the thermal scope. I use it on coyotes as well. Those 110gr bullets hit hard no matter what they hit.

Thanks so much for the info

Anyone know why Ruger discontinued the SFAR. It appears to first made in 2022. Was rifle of the year in 2023 and appears to be discontinued from their website this year. I suspect it is because of all the returns for the gas issues?

Gas issue is a simple fix. If it was discontinued most likely because of sales, which is hard to believe its an awesome package.

I did not realize the rifles are discontinued. I am still loving mine. I have been too busy working to cat hunt this winter. Maybe in a couple of weeks. It is a perfect hunting rifle for larger critters if you ask me. I will be careful not to push the bolt too hard from here on out if spares do not exist. I shoot 150's at 2575 - 2600fps with H4895.
